A Table Awaits

Come to the table that God has set for you, and be delighted that your place is preserved, with a name tag! While the current spiritual battle rages on, and new wars are contemplated, be secure in who you are “in Christ”. We are in His army, and we can feel like weary soldiers with buckling knees. We may even drag our feet in our walk of faith, but we pray through and we push on towards the banquet table that our Father promised and personally prepared for us. We shall feast on many glad tidings of the saints that previously went to glory. Imagine uplifting, amazing conversations with Peter, John, Martha, Amos, Priscilla, Luke, Ruth and Paul. Just think about that sense of satisfaction that will be —when all your voiced and unspoken questions are all answered! At the Grand Wedding Supper of the Lamb, all our enemies may look in on us from the outside– however, the mockers and those who resisted the Truth will be prohibited from joining us. Without their name in The Book of Life, those who scoffed at Jesus and made fun of us — they are permanently excluded from the promises of God. “O taste and see how good the Lord is,” another urges us.  If John presents Jesus claiming to be food, claiming to be the manna, then Jesus is also claiming to be the Word, the Wisdom of God. And thus He invites everyone to eat Him and drink Him, and relish every Word that proceeds from His mouth. This same Wisdom shows up in Scripture in another guise too. She is personified in several Old Testament texts as a mother who builds a house for her children—and wouldn’t you know it, she sets a splendid table and then she goes out and calls to her children, “Come,” the scripture says, “Come from East and West, North and South! Eat my bread, drink my wine! Come to the feast I prepared for you!” More about that feast on this post: Buttery Good  Entirely secure in His Word, we rejoice to eat amazing delicacies and toast our Host, Jesus Christ our Lord, and generous King. “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” Psalm 23:4 Are you confident you will be there? Why Deny Myself?

My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27
