A Heart on Fire

Eric Liddell and family

I just watched Chariots of Fire. Eric Liddell drew a line on his turf of athletics. He chose not to compromise his faith in Jesus. As a Christian, his stand brought God glory. His motivation was not his notoriety. Eric felt Gods pleasure and he had FUN while bringing God glory.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 “Do you not know that in a RACE all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last…. but we do it to get a crown that will last FOREVER. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” Which is LIFE ETERNAL. ❤️

John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” Eric Liddell was born unto missionary parents. He was placed in a school and only saw his parents every 7 years. Eric was motivated by a desire to honor God by winning a race publicly to bring God glory. Risking the opportunity to represent his country, Eric said “I will NOT run on the Sabbath.”

Eric chose to honor God, the King of the universe. He won the medal and humbly went into the mission field and soon after died. His legacy of faith inspired thousands to live to please God.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, we adjust our behavior to please God. We bear the fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, kindness, patience. God’s purpose for life is that we effort to do a work that pleases Him.

Excelling in any respect, being kind, being patient, suffering well, being generous. We forget NOT all the benefits of being a child of God. We are filled with spiritual wisdom and we are willing to be used by God to carry out God’s purpose. We measure our reflection of Christ by our fruitfullness in every way. We are inflamed with truth. We were created with a purpose. We welcome change as God moves us into a new season. We increase our experiential knowledge of God as we choose to behave in a way that pleases our King. ❤ The Holy Spirit prepares our hearts, He fortifies our spirit with grace. He leads us in such a way that we  want to do what He prompts us to do. The world is watching.

We need to vet the influences in our lives. Ask questions:

1. Is this person a truth teller?
2. Who mentored this person?
3. Are they accountable?
4. Who discipled their ministry?
5. Is their doctrine sound?
6. Is there fruit in their ministry?
7. Last days many signs and wonders will lead people away from a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Are people influenced or saved? There is a wide road to destruction and a narrow gate that FEW find. Do not promote just anybody. God holds us accountable.  Guard your heart. Do not be deceived. God gave you a voice, a platform, and He alone makes your message relevant. Do NOT seek likes from man, seek favor from God. Share the truth and give God the glory.

Decide to follow Christ. Stick to His plan. Honor your King.

His Ways are not our ways. AMEN

This moment in time is NOT all there is. Life as we know it is NOT our destination. The folks who live with a destination mentality have unrealistic expectations and will be regularly disappointed. They will struggle to believe God is good all the time, that He is faithful, loving and kind. They will be quicker to complain than be content. WHY? As children of God, we battle against invisible forces that are not of flesh and blood. We put on the armor of God and we NEVER take off our helmet of Salvation, put down our sword, take off our breastplate of righteousness or loosen our belt of truth. We choose to live each day, each MOMENT, knowing that “this moment” is NOT all there is. God’s Word assures us that our heavenly Father guarantees us a final destination. Today, His Word prepares us during these end times to find His purpose and meaning in everything we are going through. Our Father will use all the difficulties we face to mature us, to make us ready for the NEW world that is to come. We are pilgrims on a the highway to holiness and our future is glorious. Therefore, we do NOT try and make this moment in time our paradise. We choose to thank God for His grace as He prepares us for our forever home with Him

“We know that when these bodies of ours are taken down like tents and folded away, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven—God-made, not handmade—and we’ll never have to relocate our “tents” again. Sometimes we can hardly wait to move—and so we cry out in frustration. Compared to what’s coming, living conditions around here seem like a stopover in an unfurnished shack, and we’re tired of it! We’ve been given a glimpse of the real thing, our true home, our resurrection bodies! The Spirit of God whets our appetite by giving us a taste of what’s ahead. He puts a little of heaven in our hearts so that we’ll never settle for less. That’s why we live with such good cheer. You won’t see us drooping our heads or dragging our feet! Cramped conditions here don’t get us down. They only remind us of the spacious living conditions ahead. It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going. Do you suppose a few ruts in the road or rocks in the path are going to stop us? When the time comes, we’ll be plenty ready to exchange exile for homecoming. But neither exile nor homecoming is the main thing. Cheerfully pleasing God is the main thing, and that’s what we aim to do, regardless of our conditions. Sooner or later we’ll all have to face God, regardless of our conditions. We will appear before Christ and take what’s coming to us as a result of our actions, either good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 The Message
