Be Steadfast

Be strong in your faith, be fully persuaded, be unshakable, be a solid rock, be steadfast.

Words to chew on and fully digest. Repeat this truth. “For it pleased the Father that in Him (Jesus) all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet NOW He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight — if indeed you continue in the FAITH, grounded and STEADFAST, and are NOT moved away from the HOPE of the GOSPEL which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven. ” Colossians 1:19-23 NKJV

The fullness that dwelt in Christ was the absolute completeness of God’s redemptive work accomplished through the cross. Paul wrote “that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Now, this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words.” Colossians 2:1-7

What persuasive words do we hear today? What empty deceits ?
There are (4) WARNINGS:
1) Do not be deceived Col 2:4
2) Do not be taken captive 2:8
3) Judgment of man 2:16
4) Do not be cheated 2:18

Paul presents 4 SOLUTIONS:
1) Be steadfast in faith 2:5
2) Live secure in Christ 2:8
3) Reality “Christ in me” 2:17
4) Christ the Head 2:19

WHAT does the Word of God say is the greatest command? Love one another. Our Father asks us that we obey His commands. A wise man wrote: “Many Christians actually believe that some person, religious system, or discipline can ADD something to their spiritual experience. TRUTH: Christians already have everything they will ever need in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Because in Him there is continuously and permanently at home all the FULLNESS of absolute DEITY in bodily fashion. And you are ‘in Him’ having been completely filled FULL with the present result that yiu are in a state of FULLNESS, in Him who is the Head of every principality and authority. ” Wuest
