Begin and End

Before the Beginning.

Attempt to imagine the very beginning. Not just before you were born. But before earth, galaxies, stars, or before waters existed. Before the dark was split by Light. Before language was spoken, or a word, or a single sound. Note, how try as you might, your mind slips into an impossible blank void. All that we can imagine — or envision is a thought that was thunk after the very beginning. A belief has been long promoted that before God created anything, He was alone, by Himself, and perfectly self-existing. That God got lonely, and as the Alpha and the Omega, He decided eternity was empty without companionship. So God decided to create a fully grown man named Adam, able to think and speak immediately out of clay. Was it truly out of boredom, that God made a universe to place a single man? That our Almighty God fashioned a light bearing being, in His own image, just to have someone to talk to?

Context is important as we read the Bible, and so is order. Alas, in the very beginning, the Father spoke, His Son was there, as well as the person of the Holy Spirit. He was hovering with God and the Word flying over the deep.  Imagine the Father speaking to Who? His Son, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, all together creating. The glue, the substance that holds all 3 in unity is LOVE. With zero competition, One God in three persons operated to create. The first words of the God breathed Holy Bible, are; “In the beginning, God created.”  The first Adam was created after God created the galaxies. Years later, the cousin of Jesus was used to write, “In the beginning was the Word. And the Word was with God. And the Word was God ” John 1:1  What we are being told by God is that before the beginning, the Word was with Him, and that the Word co-existed in the beginning. By His own Word, God Almighty was not alone, the Word was with Him. The Word was not separate from God, but that the Word was God. Two persons and One being, the Alpha and the Omega. The Bible begins and ends with the Truth. If we question God, He gives us His Word as His only, final answer.

We walk by faith and believe every Word of God, or we entertain man’s thoughts, his understanding. God teaches us NOT to lean on our own understanding, but on every Word He wrote. Commentaries are generated as a result of man’s “aha moment”.  We seek God with all our heart, mind, and soul to fully know God as He declares Truth. The body of Christ divided itself into denominations. This was not God’s plan, but man’s insistence of their individual understanding. The word trinity is not in the Bible, BUT GOD, had His breath write His Word just as He spoke it. We are to ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and understanding. As we ponder every precise sentence, the Spirit gives us fresh revelation.  People often hold onto what is familiar, and resist the new. “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about Me.” John 5:39

The Father spoke, the Son expressed Himself as the Light, BEFORE anything else was created, the Spirit carried out the speech of the Father to fulfillment. What existed before time and space? God Almighty, and He was never alone. God said to the Son, let’s create, let us make a new life. The Spirit danced in delight to carry out the LIGHT of love. Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let US make mankind in OUR image, in OUR likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” The US of God made it all for His pleasure.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 1st and 2nd Chronicles give us the genealogies after Adam, to include Obed who kept the Ark of the Covenant and Boaz who married Ruth the Moabite. Matthew also lists generations as the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham: Abe was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers. Then Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, (a prostitute) Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse. We also read about king David’s daughter Tamar and the incest. The shepherd king David had 19 sons who each preferred their own ways to God’s written law. The ongoing lack of faith documented in the Bible never dilutes the frequent dishonorable acts by selfish disobedience. Surely, out of pride, if the Bible was written by man, the brutal errors of mankind would have been written to exalt all the characters of the Bible. As it was written by God’s breath through His chosen, often uneducated men, the truth allows us to see our desperate need for a Savior.

The first born was Jesus and the full grown man Adam was made in His likeness. The last Adam, is Jesus, who laid down His life so that we can partake in a new life in Him.  Praise God for the Holy Spirit who keeps us from failing, and falling away. Jesus holds all things together as we abound in the marvelous work of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 15:35-42 “Someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?” How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body. There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor. So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable.” By the Eternal Spirit.

Our faith in the Word, in Jesus, secures our eternity with Him. Death is swallowed up in victory! “Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” Jude 1:22-25

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8. The Christ was present and active in the Creation of all things. “Nothing that was created, was created without Jesus.” John 1 and Genesis 1. Our God is Eternal, Jesus is eternal, and the Holy Spirit is eternal. All three are everlasting. God’s Word was spoken, Holy Spirit hovered. All creation was birthed. Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End.

For centuries theologians have argued about what God said happened on day one of the beginning. The Father said, “Let there be light.” Genesis 1:3 Our God is orderly. On day 4 of His creation, the Father created the Sun, our earthly light source. So the Light that God separated from the darkness on day one, was the Son of God being made manifest. Jesus became visible, and God beheld His Son shining and said it was good. “In Him all things hold together.” The trinity is not a puzzle, it is the structure of how God created. The Father is the Source. The Son is the Word being spoken into the visible. The Holy Spirit is carries out the Word’s desires. Our reality, our visible existence came about by the Father speaking. As you read this written post, there is a writer, and a written article, a thing appears, and by the eternal medium of the Spirit, He gives us God’s intent, complete understanding. The design from the beginning is our privilege.  We get to daily communicate with the Father, via His Spirit. Hallelujah and Amen

Beginning to End, Jesus is Lord

In the midst of a dark season of dry bones and doubt, Dustin Beasley wrote “The Thread of Everything”. His written words validated what the Spirit forged in my spirit in June of 1985. After my baptism in the Spirit in a Pentecostal church, I was given my first Bible and told to read the book of John. I hovered over this one scripture.  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The Spirit of God affirmed in my spirit that the Word is Jesus, and He became flesh. Scripture to Scripture, Genesis 1 affirmed Revelation 19, that Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, without a beginning, He is God and He is without end, my personal Savior.

The Thread is LOVE through all things, eternally. Got dry bones? Read this book.
