All Sufficient

Until Jesus is enough, no person, place, or thing will ever be. Slow down to reflect. Lord, am I still anchored in You or have I drifted? Being stilled in that quiet, God reminds us of something simple but pretty deep. His fixed, unchanged truth is rock solid. But all of us on occasion look…

Simon and Garfunkel

In the 1960’s “The Sound of Silence” was written by Simon and Garfunkel and released in the midst of the hot mess of love gone wild. The lyrics are not about silence. They clearly point to disconnection. People talking without meaning. A world full of voices that paint dark visions minus hope. The song does…

10 Virgins

The Parable of the Ten Virgins, found in Matthew 25:1-13, is a story told by Jesus that illustrates the importance of being prepared for the Kingdom of Heaven. In the parable, ten virgins take their lamps and go out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them are wise and bring extra oil for their lamps,…

Hope in Death

My husband didn’t pack his bags for another woman. He departed suddenly, like an untimely death. He told me he had suffocated in our silence. The raw truth was, he was drowning in the noise of the modern era—or perhaps the purpose of the fear instilled. We had the house with a massive kitchen island…

Submit to God

The Spirit of God wins by truth, surrender, and daily alignment with God’s will. The flesh’s influence weakens as the Spirit grows stronger through denial and discernment. The loud demands of our flesh fade every time we acquiesce to the lead of the Holy Spirit. Our invitation that He guide us begets a wise answer.…

Rejoice Always

God’s command to “Rejoice Always” is bounced around in our reasoning mind. “But, I don’t FEEL like rejoicing.” God did NOT say, “Rejoice, only if you feel like it.” He said, “Rejoice always!” Happiness comes from the word happen. If my happenings don’t happen to happen the way I happen to want my happenings to…

A Mysterious Fog

A group of four friends — Michael, Barbara, Carter, and Kim — decided to go on a trek up a remote mountain area to enjoy nature and seek a rare view. They had prepared carefully, bringing water, snacks, and a map. Their joint journey went smoothly for an hour. Then a very mysterious fog began…

God said…

With zero contradictions, all scripture was recorded on 66 ancient scrolls, in 3 different languages, by 40 different chosen quill holders, over 3 separate continents, for our benefit. “All scripture is God breathed.” Therefore, every word has deep significance. “But as many as RECEIVED Him, to them He gave the right to become children of…

Fast and Pray

Look up for your redemption draws near. Seek purity by confession. A holy hour of revelation and repentance is wise before the trumpet blasts and Jesus appears in the clouds. Old painful memories of childhood may float in. Confess resentment, unforgiveness, fear, hate, envy, anger, criticism, idle grumbling. Deliverance of all that tortured your soul,…

A Fervent Desire

The heart of Jesus was filled with overwhelming emotion. Our Savior held a fervent need to reveal truth to us. “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” Luke 22:15 His upcoming suffering and departure would take place before the end of this Passover Festival. The last hours of His…
