Growing up in the Church of Ireland, at age 13 when his mom died CS Lewis became an atheist. He was sent to a boarding school and often spoke out vehemently against all religion. Later, CS became a highly esteemed professor who held positions at both Oxford and Cambridge. As a poet, broadcaster, and a theologian, while at Oxford he spent hours debating with his colleague AW Tozer over God. CS later admits it was logic and reasoning that was his stumbling block. A tune stuck in his head “Just as I am.’ ❤️ Phil 3:8 “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” CS considered his intellectual pursuits garbage. He surrendered what the world offered to gain Christ. CS found the unsurpassed JOY he always longed for.
