Who rode in a sidecar, face shining as their soul was changed forever? A clue is that they grew up in Ireland. As a youth they pursed pleasure over all else. This poet read volumes and enjoyed great music. Their logic, philosophy and intellectual reasoning had dismissed God. That mystery solved along with other astonishing fascinations. The amazing power of words from our friends, and in songs.

Suffering is bearable, but not for an eternity. Coming to God as we are, is to find REST in all the questions. When we completely surrender. a surprising spirit filled joy replaces confusion. Growing up in the Church of Ireland, at age 13 when his mom died CS Lewis became an atheist. He was sent to a boarding school and often spoke out vehemently against all religion. Later, CS became a highly esteemed professor who held positions at both Oxford and Cambridge. As a poet, broadcaster, and a theologian, while at Oxford he spent hours debating with his colleague AW Tozer over God. CS later admits it was logic and reasoning that was his stumbling block. A tune stuck in his head “Just as I am.’ ❤️ Phil 3:8 “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” CS considered his intellectual pursuits garbage. He surrendered what the world offered to gain Christ. CS found the unsurpassed JOY he always longed for.
