A giant is not green or jolly. A giant in the Bible is all about creating folly. Wikipedia suggests that the giants of the Bible known as Nephilim are mysterious beings or people who are large and strong. The Hebrew word Nephilim is translated as giants.  In the text of Genesis 6, the word is also translated as “the fallen ones”.  Their origins are disputed as some view them as offspring of fallen angels and humans. Others view them as offspring of the descendants of Seth and Cain. Genesis 6:1–4 declares that they walked on earth. According to the Book of Numbers 13:33, we discover that ten of the Twelve Spies report the existence of Nephilim in Canaan, prior to its conquest by the Israelites. What incited such fear in these spies? Who were the 2 unafraid spies? How is the Mt. Hermon transfiguration site even more significant? Pre-flood men of renown took wives? Do angels take on different forms? Many questions lead us to consider the research of a couple of Bible nerds. BACKGROUND TO LISTENING: Cain killed his brother Abel and led people into rebellion against God. Is that happening today? Consider the popularity of Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings. Did Darth Vader invade the minds of those authors? Has fictional characters captured the mind of mankind with shape shifting giants, serpents, and flying dragons? Polytheism is the belief in or worship of more than one god. Monotheism is the opposite doctrine or belief that there is only one God.

Why care about the origin of Nephilim? Are the Nephilim manifesting in our society today? Glean what you can from these two avid Bible researchers. Like Hal Lindsay, Gary Wayne, Derek, Jerry B. Jenkins who wrote the Left Behind series (sold 60 + million) and his son Dallas Jenkins, all sought after God with all their strength.  I believe that their particular insights were masterfully guided to create increasing interest in God. Who was Enoch? How did the Nephilim come to be? What does the symbolism of the pyramid, the all-seeing 👁 eye in the jewelry of 2023 mean?  Many scholars who have read volumes and written about how a changeling (think of the current craze to transgender) chooses his own identity. Returning to Jesus, this interview reminds us that our heavenly Father has His angels and they PROTECT US from today’s twisted, inside out, upside down and shape shifting mystics masquerading as angels of light.

Gods unshakable, unchanging Word is NOT a conspiracy, it is the truth. It is never quenched by a bad review, a misinterpretation, rain or a bad day. God’s Word shines through the dark of humanity’s confusion, current desperation and difficult times. His light bursts through the fog as the brightness of JESUS says “walk this way.”  His love is like cool water in a parched land. He said it, and so it is. “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”  There is no replacement for His timely encouragement, His persistent hope, His uplifting courage, His eternal love, His fresh mercies, His enduring grace. The Word of God is filled with treasures to discover. It is His gift to all, for us to take time to unwrap slowly. He constantly renews us with new revelation.  Joy is lacking in the twisted condition of this current fallen world.  HOPE is found by hungry hearts of those desperate  for meaning.  God is to be found in His everlasting, unchanging Word. While walking on this earth, Jesus expressed His desire for us who thirst for a  relevant Word. “That My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” True joy is vertical, internal, stable and eternal. Luke 2:10 and John 25:11 quoted

“Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare Him room.” God has placed this quest in each of our hearts. It is there to drive us to Him. It is there because we were made for Him. Sadly, most people ignore Him. The delights of the physical world were carefully crafted to point to the One who is Spirit, who is unseen but knowable. The distractions in the chaos are beyond counting.  God alone can bring the deepest of joy and contentment to the heart. He alone gives us a reason for getting up in the morning and a purpose for living. He alone can infuse hearts with hope, no matter what chaos is in the world. Seek the Light of His truth, and shine your light and pierce the darkness. AMEN
