John Donne

John Donne

He was a scholar, soldier, and a cleric who was made Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral in 1621.  He was a favorite read as an English Poet and 160 of his sermons were published. He lived from 1571 – 1631.

A revised prose of John Donne. “All mankind is in one Volume.” When one person dies, their chapter is not torn out of the Book….but simply translated into an eternal language. Every chapter must be so translated. God employs several translators. Some chapters are translated by age, some by sickness, and others by justice. But God’s hand shall bind up all scattered leaves again.   His grand library holds every chapter within His massive Volume. One day His Book will lie open faced, exposing the truth of one another.  God has read every adventure, wrong turn and joy. One day we will all stand before Him fully published as a well done character, or as a fool. The Holy Spirit is our current Editor who operates in us when we lean on Him for transformation.

Many teach Jesus died on the cross because we are wretched sinners… but I challenge you to get to know Him, personally. Jesus gave up heaven, agreed to come down be born as a baby, learn to walk, and grow up loving those who misunderstood Him. He chosevto lay  down His life out of His love. He felt the pain of the lashes and brutal nails.  He died on that cross because we are lost sons and daughters. He died for our sins, not because of them. For God so LOVED the world… Jesus didn’t come to condemn, but to SAVE.  We lean on our understanding and  judge.   To love others more than our  fear of rejection is hard. To love enough to forgive them for they do not know that evil blinds many from knowing Truth. We love because He first loved us. Love isn’t some mushy, selfish feeling.  Love stretches us. It grows us. It holds no account of wrongs. It is praying for those who do us wrong, with a pure heart. To truly experience freedom in Christ, we must forgive, pray for, and love others enough to tell them about His desire to wipe away doubt, fear, pride, selfishness and every other sin away.
