Coffee and God

Brew a cup and thank God for the beans. Thank Him for the water, and the flame that makes it boil. Open the Bible and taste and see that our Lord is alive and good.  Psalms 3:4 (MSG)  With all my might I shout up to God, His answers thunder from the holy mountain. AMEN

Psalms 8 (MSG)  Almighty God, brilliant Lord, Your name remains astounding. Nursing infants gurgle choruses about You; elders shout the songs that drown out enemy talk, and silence atheist babble. I look up at Your skies, dark and enormous. Your handmade moon with stars twinkling in the night. Then I look at my micro-self and wonder, why do you bother with us? Why take a second look our way? You put us in charge of all that erupted by Thy Word in all its brilliant design. Oh dear God, my brilliant Lord, Your name echoes around the world. Hallelujah!

Truthful is that good people, cheer God! Right-living people sound best when praising. Use guitars to reinforce your Hallelujahs! Play His praise on a grand piano! Invent your own new song to Him; give Him a trumpet fanfare. For God’s Word is solid to the core; everything He makes is more superior than good.  The skies were made by His command; He simply breathed the word and the stars popped out.

God’s plan for the world stands firm. All His designs are orderly and His ways never change.  Blessed is the country who seeks God; blessed are the people He has put in His Sovereign will. Our Father has created and gifted each person; now He watches everything we do. God’s eye is on those who obey His word. He goes before us with pressure to open doors for us to walk through.  He takes great pleasure in the ones who  look to keep in step with His next move. Ever willing, He comes to our rescue in bad times. In our weakness, He keeps body and soul together.  Depend on God; He keeps our cups full and overflowing.  Faithful and true, God is all we need.

God—You are trustworthy! We can’t get enough of You! Our hunger and thirst for righteousness, is satisfied by Your sacrifice. Gladly, we wait with expectancy. With ears and our eyes open, we drink in Your strength and glory. In Your generous love, we truly live. Our lips pour out praise like fountains. Every breath sounds like Yahweh. Your hands knit us together, they keep us from sinking.  Our freedom in You allows us to run the race and get the prize. Thank You.

Your treasury is counted and is beyond bountiful. Oh Father, You give us 10,000 reasons to give thanks! We sing an anthem to our High God! We boldly announce Your love.  Each day, God gifts us with a fresh start, with new revelation. With glad rejoicing we see past the horizon into eternity. We twirl and celebrate the ability to move in grace. Our Father’s love and His sworn faithfulness is dependable. God is our sufficiency. Our  happiness multiplies as we receive daily mercies.  As promised, He works daily on our behalf. How magnificent it is to know that His many promises are true. How profound are His thoughts! You, oh God, are High and Eternal. Our ears are filled with grateful birds singing.  Thankful people wave their hands like palm trees praising. Read Psalm

Romans 5:5 (MSG) In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!

Matthew 5 (MSG)  And if someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously. You’re familiar with the old written law, ‘Love your friend,’ and its unwritten companion, ‘Hate your enemy.’ I challenge that. I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God created selves. This is what God does. He gives His best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty. In a word, what I’m saying is, Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.
