Throughout history, God has used many women for His great purpose. Rahab was the prostitute that provided safety for Joshua. Ruth was a foreigner. Esther was an orphan. A Renaissance woman known simply as “La Señora” in 1525 defied the oddity of a woman in business. She developed trade networks that provided opportunities for the oppressed. God used Nasi as an example of great faith. La Senora Nasi was among the most formidable figures of the world in the 16th century. Her dramatic life began in Portugal.

Born into a Jewish family who were forcibly baptized in Constantinople (now Istanbul), La Senora had great courage. She earned the reputation of a shrewd and resourceful business woman. She was a generous silent benefactor of many Jewish enterprises. La Senora used her immense wealth to save Jews from persecution. Doña Gracia Nasi (1510–1569) was most influential for assisting the Jewish people. Praise God.
