Pride shows up in many ways as we read Scripture. Pride is NOT just a feeling of being superior. A show of arrogance is recognized, if we assume, or suggest that our own reasoning of the facts is the only way. We easily identify those who are self absorbed, or behave narcissistically and see their pride. BUT GOD! If I think my problem is bigger than God’s promise, that is also pride. When I think my past, my lack, or my ignorance, will prevent me from being used by God, that is pride. When I believe my problem is greater than the power of the blood of Jesus, that is pride. Whatever stirs in my soul that is NOT humbled by God’s Word, it is time for me to ask for His forgiveness. Humility is the opposite of pride. Pride is the sin that God says He hates. My total dependence on the blood of Jesus to cover, transform or change my view or personal understanding — of any given situation requires my admission, repentance, and submission to God’s Word.

Our Father has made His Way very clear. Life flows when we submit. God’s Ways, are not our ways! This earth walk is not all there is. All that God promises is true. We all suffer pain and loss! God led a large group of people the longest way out of Egypt. It was NOT the quickest route. The people were led by God through the wilderness. A desert without water or a compass. Why does a loving Father take His kids on such a rough journey full of pain and danger?

It was to train a generation of people to lean not on their own ways, but to trust God for all their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs. Our natural selfish ways are broken by our desperate need for a Savior. God prepares and teaches us a very necessary pattern as we read the Bible. Trust God, Hope in God, Depend on God, Cry out to God, with genuine THANKSGIVING for His Way. His timing is perfect in every season.
