Gospellers

Robertson Family Gospelers

A Gospeler is one who directs conversations to include the Gospel. Pastors do their part by preaching the Gospel. But when the ordinary followers begin to follow the example of Jesus, they too begin to tell how Jesus interrupted their ways with life eternal. Willie, a seminary graduate, chose to be a Gospeler instead of a pastor. By keeping it simple, His grace spreads deeper in every single seeker.

Willie Robertson

Inspired by legacy lessons from a son of a swamp dweller. Who? Willie Robertson is the author of a bestselling book entitled Gospeler. His entire family are fishers of men, hunters of the Truth. They are Christ focused and grace driven. Their show Duck Dynasty has satisfied hungry hearts. “The spot of His children.” Deuteronomy 32:5 Asks what is the secret spot of a child of God? The living, active, deep diving Word of God reveals all truth to us.  Being a true worshipper of God, in Spirit and truth, bids our love of God to comingle with our thoughts and daily actions.  “To as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become the sons of God, even to as many as believed on His name.” This means that if I have received Christ Jesus into my heart, I am a child of God. In His glory filled reception of me as His child, my Father gifted me with extraordinary faith.

Unwrapping that gift of faith, we believe on the name of Jesus Christ. Our believing on Jesus Christ’s name-from our heart, is our act of worship.  Our blessed Redeemer proclaimed that we are in the family of the Most High. Our Lord Jesus  says of His followers. “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” On Christmas eve, the bright star of Christ was recognized by the wise men, but not the high priests? Think about that. The high priests chose not to follow the wise men when the wise left king Herod to travel to Bethlehem to worship the forever reigning King. Today, the Shepherd knows His own sheep, He knows our heart, He knows if we love Him above all else by our daily obedience.  His own sheep truly love Him – “If you love Me, obey My commands.”

So we look for opportunities to talk about Jesus, the One we love. Jesus delights in our worship of Him, because we are natural Gospellers. Jesus pointed out to the woman at the well, that one day, worship will not be about the place, but it will be about the Lord of all. The one mark, the sure mark, the infallible mark of regeneration and adoption is the heartfelt worship of Jesus, our Redeemer.  “Search me, O God, and know my heart.” Be encouraged to NOT delay in truly loving and living to glorify Jesus. Your never dying eternal soul can easily deceive you. King Herod directed the wise men. “Find this baby Jesus so that I can worship Him.” Be earnest in your spirit as you worship our Wonderful Counselor, our Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ. Inserting His name in conversations makes you a Gospeller, because of your new nature. Hallelujah.

1. The impact of family on our identity takes a back seat to who God says we are. What our heavenly Father says should shape who we become.  A fiery grandma’s tough love, a single parent, teacher, or a pastor can make a huge impact by one conversation at a time. Our families’ odd dynamics can influence major resilience, self-worth, and the ambition to do better than what was.

2. A Cycle of Poverty of soul is Easily shattered by the power of God.  A generation  of poverty gets forever changed by the Truth.  A newborn child of God gets filled with hope and great expectations for eternity.

3. Education of Who God is brings Change. In the school of hard knocks, or on the playground of life,  any school reshapes our  outlook and widens our opportunities for a life changing conversation.

4. Family Addictions: The devastating impact of abuse impacts each member of a family, BUT GOD!

5. Cultural Pride is a Double-Edged Sword: Our cultural roots, our selfish ways, our stupid choices can create stubborn pride. Our familiar family culture can also foster a deep desire to change. Any courage to bounce up to a higher calling is from God. Seeking identity beyond our grass roots builds character.

6. Role Models are important: Seek a mentor, a role model who has overcome obstacles. Willie’s role model was John the Baptist. He was born to point to Jesus. He wore funny clothing and ate bugs. He was a bit weird in compared to the overly educated folks who got stuck in debates. Willie’s 2nd mentor was Peter, the rough fisherman who had denied Jesus three times, but got back up and gave a speech that is recorded in Acts chapter 2. We all have role models that God gave us in the Bible. Esther, Ruth, and Priscilla. Find a person of great character who risked their life to share the Gospel. Study a person who encourages you. A teacher, who promotes faith in something greater than your past.

7. Trauma forges hope: A chaotic upbringing can impart emotional scars that the Lord Jesus removes with a single word. “You are forgiven. You are Mine, and I will never leave you.” Our Godview is influenced by our personal relationship with Jesus. Our faith is our gift from our Father, get out there and use it.

8. The Dream for many people is to find comfort in their adult role.  Jesus tells us to get out of our comfort zone, and trust He is with you in every situation. He gives us our reward as we share our faith in Him. “Get after the Father’s business and your dreams will come true.”

9. Resilience is found in Gods strength in our human weakness. The world teaches that we need grit and determination. God calls us to surrender all that we have, and trust His way. Our willingness to submit to God for a better life, proves that His Way allows us to overcome any obstacle.

10. Compassion Muscles are built through adversity.  Read  Willie’s book “Gospellers.” Then read JD Vance’s book “Hillbilly Elegy.” Be encouraged, not embarrassed by your roots of faith. Set your focus on the Word of God and look beyond stereotypes and statistics and into God’s perfect plan.

Willie sums up how the church, the people can accomplish all this? Be bold, Be courageous, Get out there, and start conversations that the Lord will use to lead the lost to the feet of Jesus. The most messed up folks are not only welcome to be a child of God, but the Father is especially after them.

Papa Phil on finding peace, after he decides to put down hate, envy, selfish ambitions, drinking, immoral behavior, and fighting. Phil who has a Masters Degree in Teaching simply says. “I’m not going to offend anybody, but you all know what love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and self-control is. Why would you want to live in the flesh of lewdness anymore? Our flesh is full of lusts that work against the Spirit of God. Once we choose God, His Spirit pricks our selfish spirit and says “Walk this way.” With a Focus on Building up the Family of God, listen up and be encouraged.

  3. I see Jordan Peterson’s new series on the gospels is billed as unpacking their “psychological significance.”

The psychological significance of the gospels is this: that we may have peace with God because Jesus Christ has dealt with our sin and thus reconciled us to Him, through the things He achieved on our behalf in His life, death, resurrection, and ascension.

In short, we can “have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Rom 5:1b)

    That’s it.
