Why do we love it here? The friends we have come to love, enjoy, and interact with are more amazing than the sights, weather or the art. Richard, Francisco, Lori, Liz, Mary, Priscilla, Robert, Mark, Florette, Ken, Jerry, Carol, Gary, Linda, John, Judy, Nan and the Vista Del Lago dominoe gaggle. Each Friday a Cafe Group of 20 in San Antonio. Michael and I invite our USA friends and family to visit us again, and again. The best visiting weather is from October to April. This is just one central, safe location of many places one can find on the web. It is being featured because the hotel also has a restaurant that serves delicious pizza and steak.

Seating for friends that enjoy the environment as much as the menu. A group of friends go to various places after Bible study on Wednesday. Our vegan friends enjoy ensalada. Our guests have stayed in Chapala at “Villa 1927” and the San Francisco hotel. Both of these hotels are walk friendly to explore the village. Right next to the cozy German restaurant. Johanna’s serves sausages, saurkraut, cucumber salad, and Goulash.

Casa Copal has many Google reviews. It is a boutique hotel right across the street from our Arts Auditorium. The venue includes great musicians from around the globe and Guadalajara. It is also across the street from the Wednesday market and close to the Ajijic Plaza.

Living here full time for over 10 years, we continue to discover new joy by sampling all of what the village of Ajijic offers. Those who enjoy nature, birds, gardens, and this happy culture of people — return annually from the USA, Canada, and Europe just for the excellent climate.

If you plan to get away from cold weather, enjoy a quick flight to Guadalajara International Airport. Take a 45-minute cab ride for just 600 pesos to Ajijic. Rooms at Casa Copal are 1,500 pesos per night. Again, the location is perfect so renting a car is absolutely not required.

Bancomer Bank accepts any debit card for a fee. It is best to order pesos from your home bank to avoid extra charges. Pesos are always more convenient as the dollar is not accepted. Booking your stay online, of course, will use any card.

Just a quick tour online will allow you to research the upcoming events at the cultural center. Many visit the Lake Chapala Society of expats to book tours to the zoo in Guadalajara, or find out what is happening locally around the village.

Michael and I enjoy giving visitors a personal tour. San Juan Cosala, Chapala, Riberas, Jocotopec, San Antonio Tlayacapan, Ajijic, all circle Lake Chapala. We reside in San Nicolas out in the midst of cornfields and free roaming cows.
