A Fervent Desire

The Last Passover

The heart of Jesus was filled with overwhelming emotion. Our Savior held a fervent need to reveal truth to us. “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” Luke 22:15 His upcoming suffering and departure would take place before the end of this Passover Festival. The last hours of His life as a human are recounted by Luke, Matthew, and Mark. “When the hour had come.” Jesus is in total control of all the events then and now. Jesus took the 1st cup which represents that we are set apart; and sanctified. At a Seder meal the 2nd cup rids us of bondage as the 10 plagues are splashed upon a plate of remembrance. The 3rd cup marks the blood shed for our redemption. The 4th cup at a Passover meal is the cup of Praise or the cup of blessing from Exodus 6:6-7 ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of oppression. I will free you from being slaves to sin, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God. I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’ ” Hallelujah and Amen

Jesus took the bread, the matzah which was striped from the baking. Matzah is also pierced prior to baking. The Bread of Life had been broken and a piece was wrapped in a linen napkin, and hidden as the afikomen to be found later by a child of God. Mary found the unwrapped, risen Jesus at the tomb. “Do this in remembrance of Me.” The Word of God became flesh so that Jesus could do the Father’s will on earth. By His death, Jesus gave up His flesh to reconcile us to our Holy God with the perfect blood sacrifice. Jesus tells us that His flesh is the Bread. “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me, yet not My will, but Yours be done.” Luke 22:42 Jesus fully Yielded.

Ezekiel 37 The power of the Word.

Luke 20:37 “Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”  “I am the bread of life.” John 6:48 Which anyone may eat and not die.  Jesus proclaimed “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” Ezekiel 37 “The hand of the Lord was on me, and He brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones.
The Lord asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, You alone know.” This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.”  By His death, Jesus defeated Satan. By His Word, He gives us eternal life.  Hebrews 2:14-15. We are redeemed by His blood. Acts 20:28. Romans 3:24-25. Ephesians 1:7 We are drawn near, justified, sanctified, made complete, with peace and boldness to approach the throne of grace. We are beneficiaries of the new covenant as God put His law in our minds and wrote them on humble, listening, grateful hearts. AMEN

The importance of watching and praying. Luke 21:34 The Day comes on you unexpectedly. Be counted worthy.

In the parable of the ten virgins, the oil is often interpreted to represent:

1. Preparedness: The oil signifies that our hearts are ready for the coming of the Bridegroom, which in a broader for Jesus return. “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning.” Luke 12:35

2. Spiritual Vitality: The oil symbolizes the Holy Spirit and our communion with Him. “I am going to send you what My Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on High.” Luke 24:49

3. Serving while trusting God: Do not worry about your life, what to eat or where. While waiting store up treasures in heaven. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:34

4. Wisdom: The parable outlined being wise versus foolish on how one manages their spiritual life, including the pursuit of God and His guidance until Jesus returns.

Matthew 22:2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son.” Remember the first miracle was at a wedding. Luke 12:36
“like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.” Hmmm! In the Jewish tradition a marriage agreement is brokered between 2 fathers. For the Last Supper it was the Father of Truth, and the father of lies. “Then Satan entered Judas.” Luke 22:3 Judas made his agreement with the chief priests to betray Jesus as the marriage broker for mankind. The chief priests acted on behalf of their father, the devil. “If God were your Father, you would love Me. You belong to your father, the devil.” John 8:44 The devil put forth humanity as the Bride. God the Father put forth His Son as the Groom. The price for the Bride was the death of Jesus. The Sadducees did not believe in resurrection. ● The Jewish betrothal ceremony includes the sharing of a cup as a sign of commitment.  A cup was also offered at the last supper ● The interval of waiting gives the Bride, God’s Church,  time to prepare herself, to purge herself of any spot or blemish. While the Groom, Jesus went away to prepare a place for her as promised. The Bride, the church does not know the glorious day of the Groom’s return.  Only the Groom’s Father knows, and He will tell His Son when it is time to go fetch His Bride. ● The wedding ceremony is consummated and a 7 day feast is held while 7 years of tribulation occurs on earth. ● Jesus corrected the Sadducees  about whose “wife” she will be. “You do not know the Scriptures, nor the power of God. When they rise from the dead, they will neither marry nor will they be given in marriage, but they are like angels in heaven. He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living.” Mark 12:27  ● The resurrection of the dead will be at the Wedding Supper of the Lamb.

Wedding Supper of the Lamb

Jesus invites us to to take the Bread, His body, and to eat it as we remember that we are joined with Him at the Wedding Banquet in heaven where the betrothal will be consumated as we become One flesh. Ephesians 5:25-27 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to Himself as a radiant  church (Bride), without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.” The cup is Jesus making a new covenant at the betrothal ceremony with His Bride, His church. It is His covenant marriage contract and His blood is the agreed upon price for His Bride. His death secured our place at the Wedding Supper of the Lamb. We choose to believe and receive eternal life in a place without suffering, not in the flames of eternal torment. AMEN

With ears to hear, we listen to what the Spirit of God says in Luke 21:8-28

The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age. Jesus warned, “Take heed that you are not deceived.”● You will hear of wars and commotions ● do NOT be terrified ● Great earthquakes ● Famines and diseases ● Persecution of My people ● Imprisonment for your faith ● Delight in the occasion for testimonies ● Settle in your heart not to think how you will respond ● Holy Spirit will give you words of wisdom ● Betrayal by family and friends ● You will be hated for the name of Jesus ● Possess your soul with patience ● Jerusalem will be surrounded by armies ● Desolation is near ● Days of vengeance ● Great distress upon the Jews ● Killed and led away ● Jerusalem will be trampled by gentiles ● Signs in the sun, moon, stars and on earth as tensions distress nations with perplexity ● Seas roar ● Hearts fail in fear ● Disappointed hopes and expectations ● Heaven will shake ● Then Jesus, the Son of Man comes in a cloud with power and great glory. Look up and praise God for your Redeemer draws near.

A study of The Last Supper. Zoom to 51:00 minutes for the Jewish Marriage Process

“My House shall be a house of prayer for all nations.” Mark 11:17 Prayer is impotent if the one praying harbors jealousy or unforgiveness. The scribes and chief priests conspired how to destroy Jesus for they feared His influential teaching. The narrative writers of today conspire to kill and destroy Christians. Mark 11:18 Jesus walks into the temple and a crowd of unbelief asked. “Who gave You authority to do these things?” Jesus caught them in their attempt to trap Him. He told the Parable of the Vineyard which was His death. “Come let us kill Him, and the inheritance will be ours.” Mark 12:7-8 The infuriated crowd tried to catch Jesus in His words about paying taxes.  Jesus knew their schemes. “Why do you test Me?” Mark 12:16 The influential Sadducees questioned Jesus about the resurrection. “There will be no marriage in heaven.” Mark 12:18-28 The scribes asked about the greatest commandment. “You shall love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. The 2nd commandment is “Love your neighbor as yourself.” There is no other commandment greater than these.” Pray for all enemies and all nations.

Our Father’s forgiveness brings salvation which was an event accomplished for all by the blood sacrifice of Jesus. A believers position in the family of God cannot be lost, but fellowship can be broken. The absence of forgiveness has a severe consequence. If we do not forgive, the Father will not forgive us.  “Let nobody eat fruit from a fruitless tree.” Feed on the Bread of Life.

1 John 4 “We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Who ever does not love, does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because He first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And He has given us this command: Anyone who loves God MUST also love their brother and sister.”

Keep watching and praying

Clothed in His righteousness. 2 Corinthians 5:21 “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” John 8 The Pharisees said, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The Law Moses commands us to stone such women. Now what do You say?” Jesus said, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Jesus assured her that He does not condemn her but said, “Go now and leave your life of sin. I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” ❤️ “He who sent Me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from Him I tell the world. The one who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do what pleases Him.”
