Because I do not have a sense of direction I am totally lost without a GPS to get me there. Back in the day, before today’s GPS, traveling sales people like myself used fold out maps which got all tangled up!  Unlike me, wise mountain climbers, tourists, globetrotters, adventurers, pilots and sailors used a radio beacon to determine the direction and distance to their final destination.  The way in which a GPS works is amazing! Global positioning systems (GPS) use  stationary satellites to connect with my roaming GPS device to determine where my location is.  Today to arrive safely at our determined eternal destination, navigation through this mad, chaotic, tumultuous world requires a fixed object,  that stationary, unchanging, beacon of Light to lead us.  Like Pastor Ken Armstrong preached today “If we fix our eyes on a person, we may get discouraged. People are frail and they are prone to bias and they too get lost and have blind spots.  If we fix our eyes upon a government or an organization, these societies (including churches) are put together by fragile characters who often disappoint and lead us astray. However, when we fix our eyes on Jesus, “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” Heb 12:12 – we view our social experience through the trustworthy prism of His living Word and we follow His lead.  Our compass, our true North, the Christian GPS, God’s positioning System, will never fail us, we won’t get lost and our final destination is assured!  “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”  Hebrews 11:11 – We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corin 4:18 — For me, as a follower of Jesus Christ, He must be the fixed object, the One I can trust to guide me safely through any storm. The Bible is fixed, the living Word is fixed.  The Bible and Jesus never change, they never fail as He is the only One to be trusted for direction.  “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deut 31:6 – The video below will remind all who watch what an AWESOME God of Wonder, Power and Love that we follow!
