Express your Love

84400303_1096207640717784_129041493544402944_nHistory reveals that it is wise NOT to lose your head on Valentine’s Day. ❤️ Regardless of legend, February 14th is a great day to express our devotion to those we LOVE.The Catholic Church recognizes three different saints named Valentine who were each murdered. One Valentine was a priest who served under Emperor Claudius II. The Ruler outlawed marriage for young men so they would be better soldiers. Saint Valentine chose 84674542_1096226367382578_1354758364491415552_nto defy the Emperors decree and continued to perform marriages for young soldiers in secret. Claudius ordered Valentine executed. The second Valentine given the status of saint was a bishop, who was also beheaded by Claudius. The third saint Valentine was killed for trying to help Christians escape the cruel Roman prisons. According to this legend, this jailed Valentine sent the first “Valentine greeting” himself after he fell in love with the jailor’s daughter. Before his death, he wrote her a letter signed “From your Valentine,” an expression still on cards today. Until my last breath, you are the one God chose for me to love! ❤️  What is love? “If I speak in the angry tongues of men today, or in the sweet tones of angels, but do not possess God who is Love, then I am only a noisy gong which repulses my Beloved like a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift to predict the future and can fathom all the mysteries of creation with my scholarly knowledge, and if I perform miracles, but do not possess the Power of God, the Holy Spirit within me, then I am nothing.  If I give all I have earned to the poor and sacrifice my life to working hard for God so that I may boast, without the indwelling Presence of Love Himself,  I gain absolutely no points with God.  “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1 Corin 13: 1-8
