Changing Times

Weather change is ever consistent. Winter, Fall, Spring, Summer. Wistfully we change from babes to teens, then a person in between. Wedded as parents, then grand folks. Accepting that 24 hours will constantly tick away, with dulled minds, hearts and attitudes ever changing. What we saw and heard was perceived as good or evil. Innocent or guilty.

Gas prices, the cost for a car, or eggs — nothing stays the same. We all witness the harsh erosion of values. We see the cause and effect of time passing. Looking back in our rear view mirror, we remember the good old days of a much simpler life. One without such high risk of losing sight of family.

Those lazy times, enjoying car hops and cops with a happy beat. A barbecue with unmasked neighbors. A church picnic and baseball at the park. These times are fast changing. The momentum of evil is racing before all to see. How will we face eternity?

Times are definitely changing. Looking ahead we know that one day we will be dead. Then how will we spend our surviving soul time? The wisest of mankind acknowledge that there is a God. Without excuse we see His creation and marvel with wonder. The moon, stars, the mountains, rivers and sunshine —Who keeps the oxygen flowing, the wind blowing, the rain falling? Who holds the key to death and hell? Who gave us a way outta here? Our Father, who is in heaven, His kingdom comes, His will be done for sure and certain! Believe in Jesus or not – that is the question.

What does the Creator of all things want us to know? That the Truth and the Liar are both real forces. That God provided one Way. His living Word is actively dividing truth from lies and it spells out the only escape route. Jesus is the Way.

We can see that Light pierces darkness. We know the difference of good and bad. Aware that our choices bring consequences, we pause, we hesitate and wisely contemplate God, our fate and the narrow gate.

Our world spins, and we exist because God gave us breath, light, and water. Living water too. What will we do? Deny our obvious sins or choose life? Change is made possible by His undeserved, unmatched, unrivaled, amazing grace.

Read the Bible and agree, or not. Death is permanent and it does not change. Hebrews 7:24-26 “Because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them. Such a High Priest truly meets our need—One who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.” Worthy is our Shepherd, the Lamb who sacrificed His life to save His sheep. Jesus left the 99 to rescue the one lost, that was you, that was me.

Matthew 9:36 “When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Lord we surrender all, we invite You to lead us, teach us, and reveal more to us. Matthew 7:15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.”

  1. What an amazing post! I love the pictures too! The first one, the guy looking at the girl in the old time bathing suit, is great, almost like she is wearing a bikini! I remember car hops! We still had that at the local A & W in my town in the early 1980’s!
