Comfort Found

Finding comfort comes when we deny our feelings and trust in God. We know that information gathered as obejective facts, is the data that is all based on reality. It can be measured, analyzed or proven. Our personal opinions do NOT change the facts! Our feelings vary, fascinate and change. The best news is that our salvation ushers us into a life in Christ, a life of objective realities that do NOT change. Our feelings seem very reliable, but they change; they are not at all trustworthy. We need the Spirit and we need Faith. These two things interact with objective facts. Through faith and by the spirit, we hear facts and we are NOT easily shaken. This requires the breaking of the soul, our thinking outer man. If the outer man is not broken, we live by our feelings. “Over thinking will ruin His peace. Leave the situation in God’s capable hands.” 1 Peter 5:7

Suppose you have a need, and you want help. To solicit help, you first try to offer something as an “incentive,” using financial support. This enticement may “feel” OK, but it is deceitful. As soon as you ask, or examine your spirit, you will know that you were wrong to entice help by offering an incentive. This is not OK in politics, or among friends. We simply ask others and God for help and trust that we have done our part by requesting help. Our conscience is a function of the spirit, and the spirit examines objective facts. The facts of “LIFE” in Christ, are in the Bible, in the Holy Spirit. Truth is NOT in our feelings. Truth is not found unless we allow the Holy Spirit to be in charge our our ability to discern things according to God’s Word measured against all things. Whether it satisfies our reasoning does not matter. When we rely on our feelings, we are wrong. We may feel justified, but we are still wrong. It is always wrong to judge things by what we feel. Our rights and wrongs are found in the Bible.  Our life and walk are based on the Holy Spirit. We must spiritually discern all things. With many things, it is not a matter of good or bad, but of being in the Holy Spirit. Truth is not found unless we allow the Holy Spirit to be in charge of our ability to discern things according to Gods Word measured against all things. Whether it satisfies our reasoning does not matter. Trust God, not reasoning.

As soon as we live in our reason, we quench all expressions of the indwelt Spirit. Believe Ephesians 2:6, which says that we are raised up together with Christ and seated with Him in the heavenlie𝚜. I do not trust in my feelings. I reject my feelings. If we persist in this for three or five years, our feelings will wither and fade away. Once these feelings subside, the less momentum they have and the less they can assert themselves. The more we pay attention to our feelings, however, the more we will be beaten down. We should only lay hold of the facts.” The Collected Works of Watchman Nee

“Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore!” Psalm 105:4 ❤️ Setting God first, is a priority, according to His will. All the more as THE DAY approaches. Pleasing God above all else helps us make wise decisions. What is most important is our face time relationships. Our time and energy is limited. Often times, what we should be doing interferes with what is most comfortable. Choosing to seek God’s will, we look at all the choices and then we submit. “Holy Spirit, I surrender my will to You. Guide me today.”

With the intention to please God, we are assured in our spirit that we are using our time wisely. “How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” I gain greater understanding from God’s living and active Word; it directs my steps to avoid evil. “Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119: 103

“God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and His Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed Him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace. All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by His great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation,  and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.  And through your FAITH, GOD is protecting you by HIS power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.”

Let’s talk about DOUBT

James 1:6-8 “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

Our prayers should always be in faith.  However, many times when we pray we are wavering or in doubt due to a situation in our life.  Our wavering is a battle between our mind and our heart.  Wavering or doubting in the mind is a temptation to be double minded and become unstable.  Surrender your mind to the Spirit of God in prayer. Let Spirit lead.

Anytime we have a thought or doubt that comes against the Word or goodness of God, it is only a temptation.  Doubt in the mind is not doubt in the heart.  We all will have thoughts that tempt us to sin or to remove the truth that we have planted in our heart.  God’s Word also tells us in James 1 that temptation comes before we sin.  When we allow negative thoughts, which are only temptations, to enter our mind, we have a choice to make.  Do I submit to this temptation of my thoughts or do I listen to my heart and stand strong on the truth in God’s Word that has been planted in my heart?  Doubtful thoughts are only temptations to sin.

When we allow our doubtful thoughts to enter our heart and replace the truth, then we sin.  Again, the thoughts that come into our head are only temptations to sin and to lose faith.  So, if you have doubts in your head, don’t beat yourself up. Those doubts in your mind are only temptations to remove what you truly believe from your heart.  Cast those thoughts away and allow your mind to hear what the Holy Spirit is speaking to you.  God is good.  He is ever faithful to answer all questions with the truth.

  1. “Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?’” JOHN 14:9 These words were not spoken as a rebuke, nor even with surprise; Jesus was encouraging Philip to draw closer. Yet the last person we get intimate with is Jesus. Before Pentecost the disciples knew Jesus as the One who gave them power to conquer demons and to bring about a revival (see Luke 10:18–20). It was a wonderful intimacy, but there was a much closer intimacy to come: “. . . I have called you friends . . .” (John 15:15). True friendship is rare on earth. It means identifying with someone in thought, heart, and spirit. The whole experience of life is designed to enable us to enter into this closest relationship with Jesus Christ. We receive His blessings and know His Word, but do we really know Him? Jesus said, “It is to your advantage that I go away . . .” (John 16:7). He left that relationship to lead them even closer. It is a joy to Jesus when a disciple takes time to walk more intimately with Him. The bearing of fruit is always shown in Scripture to be the visible result of an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ (see John 15:1–4). Once we get intimate with Jesus we are never lonely and we never lack for understanding or compassion. We can continually pour out our hearts to Him without being perceived as overly emotional or pitiful. The Christian who is truly intimate with Jesus will never draw attention to himself but will only show the evidence of a life where Jesus is completely in control. This is the outcome of allowing Jesus to satisfy every area of life to its depth. The picture resulting from such a life is that of the strong, calm balance that our Lord gives to those who are intimate with Him.” Oswald Chambers
