Holy Spirit Help

The Holy Spirit is our constant Guide and ever present Helper. As Moses did, we respond to our Father’s call and climb the holy mountain to boldly face Him. In prayer, we take the first step to reach the high position that God calls us to. Holy Spirit requires us to trust Him so that He can manifest God’s glory in us.  In obedience, we entrusted our backpack of burdens to the Spirit of God and He turns our worries into worship. By faith we fully expect that our nature shall disappear as God’s nature begins to erupt and shine through us. We know that our God is not distant, but that He resides in us. All that God offers in His Word has already been given by the Holy Spirit. We don’t need more of the Holy Spirit, we simply surrender more of ourselves to Him. Psalm 84 personalized: Blessed am I — as I dwell, and abide in God’s house of prayer, my temple of the Holy Spirit. Blessed is my soul as my strength is in Almighty God. My heart is set on the ways of my Lord. As I walk in faith through difficulties, my dry bones come alive as I go from strength to strength.  God has given me ears to hear His Spirit speaking to my spirit. He looks upon His anointed with joy as I delight in praising my God. Holy Spirit is just like having Jesus walk beside me all day and night. He floods me with grace and the glory of God. No good thing is withheld as He keeps me walking uprightly. Oh Lord Jesus, thank You for all the favor, for Your mercy and forgiveness. Thank You for covering me, for granting me salvation and restoring me.

It is impossible to receive more of God’s Spirit, because we can’t receive MORE than ALL of HIM. Therefore, we trust God at His Word, and do not ask for more power because He has already given us all power and authority.  Consider His way of using us for His glory. Truly if anything goes wrong by our best effort, give us grace. If anything goes well, give God glory! As friends of the Almighty, we are in partnership with He who is able to do all things! Our Father created us in His image, as His instruments of peace and reconciliation. Think of His awesome plan to facilitate healing as we lay our hands on people. His power flows as we pray to even soften hard hearts at a distance.  Our divine partnership with God is accessed through prayer. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are like His overflowing bank accounts of awesome power. Our access to the riches of His glory is our activated ATM card, our prayer life. His active Word states that the power of the Most High, came upon His chosen vessel. Likewise, at the moment of our salvation, the Holy Spirit came to dwell in us. “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. No word from God will ever fail.” Luke 1:35 We live by the gift of faith and by that faith we are healed of doubt. Romans 8:9-14 “You are not in the realm of the flesh but you exist in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death — because of sin — the SPIRIT gives LIFE because of God’s righteousness. And if the Spirit of HIM who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, HE who raised Christ from the dead will also give LIFE to our MORTAL bodies because of His Spirit who lives in us. For those who are LED by the SPIRIT of God are the children of God.” Yes, Lord!

We know that according to Romans 8:9 that those who are born again have the Holy Spirit.  God delivered His promised Holy Spirit the moment we gave our life to Him. “I am in Him, and He is in me.”  His covenant with us is everlasting and remains unbroken, by Him. The Holy Spirit came to dwell in us with the fullness of His power, and His grace. Humbly we pray to receive all that God has for us.   We worship in Spirit and truth. John 4:24 By His power, like the apostles, we evangelize boldly, we drive out demons, we lay our hands on the sick, and we share the Gospel with absolute confidence in Him.  We receive good counsel from the Lord in His Word. By His Spirit we gain His intended understanding. We ask for wisdom and He gives it lavishly. We are slain in the Spirit for His purpose. We no longer live, but He lives in us. We put to death the tedious, burdensome, religious approach to seeking God’s presence.  By God’s grace we are enabled to surrender more levels of ourselves. We choose to release that which God has already deposited in us.  The enemy will lie to try to persuade us that we did not receive the Holy Spirit at salvation. Sudden thoughts of our past flaws, errors, and weak character traits come to mind as our enemy comes to steal and destroy our faith in God.  The enemy of our soul tries to convince us that we lack what it takes to serve God.  We silence the liar by choosing to worship God in spirit. Our enemy is disempowered and flees in terror.  Firmly planted in our identity in Christ, the Holy Spirit grows dominant in us by faith.  His unseen grace and influence is evident and attractive to all.

Oh Lord, like Enoch, we desire to walk closely with You, and then disappear, under Your wings. Abba Father, lead us to the burning bush. Moses was called by God, and He calls us by name too. We were hand selected just like all the prophets. He extends a personal, open invitation to trust Him. Having received a royal invite, we ascend to  meet and fellowship with Him. Enoch walked with God, then he was taken up into the clouds. Truly, our desire for a holy fellowship, thrills our Father. With intention, we become less, to merge with His glory. We do not fear disappearing, but we welcome God to over shadow us as the reality of this world slips away. We happily let go of our old mindsets to disappear and collide into His fire. The shedding of our old self and our former ways occurs each time we pray.  We boldly climb up like Moses to face the fire that will not harm us. We expect HIM to refine us so that we may glisten with His glory. “It is no longer I that lives, but Christ in me lives.” As we take a step towards God, we are aware that the Christ in us, places His lovely footprint whetever we go. As we lay our hand on someone to pray, the Christ in us lays His hand on them too. Our hands have become extensions of His. With more time in reverent prayer, we become an expression of God’s divine presence on the earth. In Exodus 24:12 we read about when Moses interacted with the Lord. The context is that Moses was called to the top of the mountain. God picked him and marked Moses as His leader. God sanctified Moses as he encountered His holy in Exodus 3.  When Moses faced the fire of the Holy Spirit, the consuming fire produced in Moses a desire to bring deliverance to a people. Whenever we come into contact with the presence of the Holy Spirit, God’s desires will become our desires. The fire of the Holy Spirit transforms hard hearts to receive Jesus as Lord.

We abide in God’s Presence through prayer, not worry. Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything.” We are told to make our needs known to God and thank Him for all He has done. Then we will experience God’s peace, a purified peace which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard our hearts and minds as we live in Christ Jesus. The mountain top represents time alone with God. We happily drop all the world’s distractions and stand before Him. The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain, STAY THERE, and I will give you the tablets of stone, so you can teach the people.” Our Father invites us to come to Him, away from all worry. He commands us to STAY THERE. Many connect with God, but fail to abide in His manifested presence.  The Holy Spirit invites us to abide and fellowship with Him. Our busyness can discount the invitation to linger and abide. We are sealed by the Holy Spirit, and He does not come and go. Jesus said, “I will send you another. He will be your Advocate and He will never leave you.” So as we go to Him in prayer, we must value His request to abide. Like Jesus, we slip away to abide, not hide.  Jesus constantly sought time with His Father. He received needed refreshing, and  renewed power. We draw close and find Him waiting for us. Let us not be quick to depart. We come to the Lord heavy and burdened with many cares, responsibilities, frustrations, and things that we see in ourselves that we wish we didn’t struggle with. Most saints are tethered to the world by the things that distract our minds.

Drop your burdens

Philippians 4:6-7. God’s command is to not worry, but pray about all things. Worry is how our flesh prays. We worry because we think we’re in control. To worry is like when we are a passenger in someone’s car and they’re not braking fast enough. We start pressing our foot onto the floor, as if that helps. When we worry, we are pressing on an imaginary brake. We tense up because we think that somehow we can stop the crash. We obsess about how we can fix the problem. Worry is a useless attempt at control. God tells us NOT to WORRY about anything.  So when we make a prayer request, we take off our backpack stuffed full of worry and hand it to God. We remove tge cares of the world and place them on His shoulders. Our worry diminishes our faith as it chokes out our belief in God.  Father, help me with my unbelief!  We are to tell God what we need and thank Him for all He has done. THEN, HIS promised sequence of events occurs. As we get away to pray, He delights to hear every detail of our lives. We come to abide in Him, so we must disconnect from the flesh. We turn off our phones and choose to leave our old self behind so that we are free to be who we actually are in the Spirit. The Word tells us to ask God for His help with finances, our health, for patience and understanding in every relationship. The Bible gives us the sequence. If we come weighed down by our cares, our backpack slows down our arrival time, so we take it off to freely receive.

Before we climb up into His arms, we lay down our worries and thank Him for  how He is working all things out for our good. THEN, HE gives us His peace. Our loving, all forgiving Father is not ready to cut the ties of our salvation because we choose to neglect Him. Our Abba Father is much more patient than we are sinful. He’s much more forgiving than we are stubborn. El Roi sees us off track, but He  welcomes us to fellowship at any time. He wants us to drop religion’s approach and to stop punishing ourselves with guilt.  Come to Me, drop off all burdens, rest in Me.   We thank God because we are confident of His all sufficient ways. We do not struggle for a holy connection, we simply surrender to Him. His peace always precedes revelation. If our mind is cluttered with worry, we miss what the Holy Spirit is speaking and any revelation. The scripture says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee.” God is the one who gives us the power to pray. He is the one who invites us to abide in His presence. The only way to begin praying is to begin. The Holy Spirit gives us the desire to come and it is our part to enact the discipline. When we want to pray, it means we have been called. When we seek His face, it means Jesus is calling us. Stop listening to the enemy who tells us that God doesn’t want to talk.  If there is even the smallest desire to pray,  it means the Holy Spirit Himself put it there. If you’re too busy to pray, you’re too busy.  If we start making decisions without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we have the tendency to mess things up. We spend more time browsing the internet than time in fellowship with the Holy Spirit who knows all and loves us anyway.  At some point we must stop listening to the World, and actually start obey God. We get to enjoy His presence, so what choices do we make to engage Him? When we put God first on our calendar, our soul prospers. Do not get so distracted that you forget to fellowship with the God who extends His time to be with us for as long as we like. The King invites us to spend time with Him, no appointment necessary.

Consistent time with the Holy Spirit transforms us. We choose to not exchange the supernatural for the mundane. We do not swap the heavenly for the earthly, or the Holy Spirit for the worldly.  God is looking for people who desire to speak with Him. Moses told the elders, “STAY HERE.” When we eagerly seek a deeper place in God, not everyone can go with us. God will often us to disconnect with peeps on a different path. There are people who do hold us back as they waste our time.  Jesus selected a few of His disciples, not all, to accompany Him in the garden. Jesus often intentionally retreated alone. The Holy Spirit gives us discernment and we respond with discipline. The partnership between God and His people requires us to move. Moses climbed up the mountain, and God covered him with a cloud. We do our part, and whether we feel it or not, prayer is doing something. The truth is that it is impossible to accomplish nothing in prayer.  Every moment we are in prayer, He is working in us. As we pray, we are becoming more like Christ. There is not a wasted moment in prayer.  Even a second in God’s presence affects us in some unseen way. Seek the face of God consistently, and expect  consistent growth. When we stand before God and ask Him to change us, He will. Our heart is deceitful, and our flesh is stubborn. We lie to ourselves about our efforts to overcome a bad habit. Until we are sickened by our sin, that will not cry out for deliverance, and we remain stuck.   We do not convince God to do a thing that is not in His will.  We groan and He liberates us. God is at work whether we feel His presence or not. Why people don’t pray is because they don’t believe prayer works. Lord, forgive me for delaying Your plans for me.

Turn up your favorite music and worship in spirit. Stop and take a picture of a scene of stunning beauty and thank God for eyes that see as He does. Use your voice and shout praises to God. Laying in bed, before rising, thank God for another day. Too busy to pray?  While getting dressed, thank God for His provision. Brush your teeth with genuine thanksgiving that our teeth help us chew and digest nutrients. Read one Psalm, and one Proverb and chew on God’s Wisdom in your car as you drive. Turn your time traveling into a private worship service. Praying without ceasing is possible as we simply look to witness God at work all day long.  Trusting that God never sleeps, even though we do not feel His presence, He abides in our midst. If you drive by a school or hospital pray for those inside. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and intercede for those in nursing homes. Speak God’s Word out loud.

One thought on “Holy Spirit Help”

  1. Lord I am listening as the Holy Spirit speaks to me. My sense is sharpened to hear God. His voice is distinct and I lend my ear to hear. 1 Samuel 3:10 “Did you call me?” The biblical framework for believers to develop clarity and confidence in hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit. Hearing God is not a skill to be acquired, but a spiritual sense already possessed by those who are born again which must be sharpened through intentional practices.

Keys to hearing the Holy Spirit:

    1. Silence and Stillness The Holy Spirit is always communicating, but we often miss Him due to the noise of the flesh (self), the satanic (lies contrary to God’s Word), and the secular (human distractions). He recommends implementing a discipline of regular private prayer, removing all digital distractions, and quieting the “inner chaos” of one’s own thoughts to become sensitive to the Spirit.
    2. The Word of God  The Holy Spirit works in perfect alignment with Scripture. God speaks to us most reliably: In the Word of God. We gain Wisdom, and direction by His Whisper, and the Wonders we see have His handprint. Do not build a spiritual practice based on one’s personal subjective “whispers” or “wonders” without first establishing a firm foundation in the written Word.
    3. Obedience The “law of stewardship,” is our responsibility. God increases revelation for those who are faithful to act on what they have already received. True sensitivity is defined by immediate response rather than debate or delay.
