The amount of information available on the world wide web is immeasurable. Young and old access world news and information online today and all have become adept at skimming not reading or fully assimilating the facts and/or opinions as they are presented by the author/commentator. Do people really read the full articles posted on Twitter, CNN, Fox News, or Facebook? I believe most people hold fast to their bias even if they do read the facts presented within the article. Does the text within news online today have the power to change hearts, minds, opinions? The good news is that there is an ancient book of living words that absolutely can and does change souls!

It is the only text Who’s meaning races through our blood to lift us up and cause us to see the world as God sees it. Psalm 34:8 “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.” Think of the last time you tasted the Word of God. Did you get a sensation of ‘knowing’ the Truth that sets you free? The word KNOW is listed 39 times in the book of 1 John. Do you receive revelation from the Holy Spirit, the Teacher, the Counselor, the Author of the Holy Bible? Knowing Jesus gives us confidence in Him and His plans, His purpose for us. To KNOW JESUS is to appreciate, to experience, to understand, to realize, to recognize, to rightly discern how deep is His love for us. 
Today temptation to depart from the Word of God comes in many forms. Working or retired people both tend to desire to keep a full calendar of activity. Volunteers with even the best intentions can be distracted to what matters most. “Martha, Martha…” Soon after Jesus was baptized, He responded to temptation with this “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ Matthew 4:4 – He also said “I am the bread of life” What our Father wants us to understand, the holy Scripture repeats. We are to eat the Words that come from the mouth of God. Chew on this Word in Luke 10:21 “At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said ‘I praise You Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father for this was Your good pleasure.” Oh Lord, do not hide revelation from me, but reveal to me what I might confess so that I can hear the Holy Spirit. John Whitener does 
what missionaries do, John was reborn to do Kingdom work and he is the instrument that God has used to change lives forever. In September of 2017 John preached in Quito, Ecuador and over 250 souls came to Christ. In the midst of a cease fire negotiation, the world news on Sept 04, 2017 is that the National Liberation Army (ELN) and the Colombian government cleared the way for an agreement to put an end to the armed conflict to achieve peace. Pray for John Whitener’s continuing effectiveness for our Lord Jesus. He is always at work through His people. Halleluiah!

In Luke chapter 10:26 Jesus responds with two very important questions to a lawyer, an expert in the law, who attempted to justify his steadfast beliefs. “What is written in the law? Jesus replied. “How do you read it?” Then Jesus continued “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself….Do this and you will live.” Oh Christian Jesus invites us to be a part of His narrative in the Holy Bible. “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.” Luke 10:23 — Pray this with all your heart, mind and soul “Oh Lord help my unbelief, help me to fully surrender to Jesus, my Lord. Allow me to see and to comprehend Thy Word, not as mere academic information, but show me the glory of Jesus in every holy word” The Word of God will taste as sweet as honey to you (Rev 10:1-11) and it will become the Source of your hope as your are transformed into the image of God. The profound love of God dwells within us. Let us choose freely to surrender our ways that we may more fully abide in Christ. Let us dine on God’s holy Word and be forever changed.

Jesus said “I am the bread of Life” – outside the life of Christ, people are spiritually dead and cannot comprehend what the Spirit is saying through the scriptures. Consider the scholar Nicodemus, a man who could quote scripture, a man who studied scriptures…yet, Nicodemus did not understand when Jesus told him “you must be born again”. Religious people must get out of their prideful DENIAL and surrender what they think they understand about God and allow the Spirit to speak to their hearts. “”You will seek Me, but NOT find Me, and where I am you cannot come.” Proud Christians, and proud Jews listen to what the Spirit is saying. John 8:58 “Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” The promise of Jesus that we will understand all things when the person of the Holy Spirit comes. John 16:13 “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth: for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare to you. John 6:43-52 “Jesus answered them ‘DO NOT murmur among yourselves. No one can can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ THEREFORE, everyone who has heard and LEARNED from the Father…comes to Me. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who BELIEVES in Me has everlasting life. I am the bread of life.” IF a person has NOT learned from the Father, in other words, learned the meaning of scripture from the Holy Spirit, that person was not taught by God, and that person cannot accept the WHOLE TRUTH of Who Jesus was, and is, and is to come! Jesus said “Glorify Me in Your presence, with the glory I had with You, before the world began.” John 17:5

Jesus tells us what ETERNAL LIFE is: “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” John 17:3 — “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.” John 3:36 — ” I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned.” — “The Spirit give life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” John 6:63 — “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.” John 9:41 — TRUTH IS: JESUS is the BREAD of LIFE. Eat these words, digest them, metabolize them, let them flow through your mind, heart and body. Be changed by what the Holy Spirit is saying through these holy words. Be nourished, be fortified, be connected to Truth, be in relationship with Jesus, be sustained, be fully satisfied, be strengthened, and be used by God as His instrument of good for His glory.
