Changing Hair

Farrah Fawcett style 1980

Our hairstyles recycle with iconic memories of our once thick, carefree, swinging strands, blowing in the wind. Dorothy Hamill and Farrah Fawcett were trend setters that even Princess Diana’s royal locks were fashioned after. Have you ever had a Farrah fluff? With Ai you can try on styles without losing a single hair. This current photo morphed into a pixie, and soft greys that swirl and curl. My hair was designed by God to be straight, and unbendable. Kind of like my walk with Him.

In 1988 it was my privilege to attend the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea. My passport photo tells of a thick head. In High School my hair was silky swirls. I did sport the Farah fashion. In 1979 as the Queen of Transportation, my short BOB was featured in a promo photo as Miss mother trucker. When Dorothy Hamill won the gold in 1987, the style for many became the Wedge. Ask a hairdresser today for a Wedge cut, and depending on her age, she will not know what you are talking about. Age 12 – 73, a history of hairstyles and colors.

The “bowl cut” that I have sported a long while is about to change. My stylist from England was able to make my thinning locks match Miss Dorothy. Then, a stylist from Mexico suggests a wispy length for a becoming, ageless style! GOOD NEWS REMAINS: Changes in my hair, and body never undercut the promises of God. “In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of God who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of HIS will, in order that we, who were the first to put our HOPE in CHRIST, might be for the praise of HIS glory. And you also were INCLUDED in CHRIST when you HEARD the message of TRUTH, the gospel of your SALVATION. When you BELIEVED, you were MARKED in HIM with a SEAL, the promised HOLY SPIRIT, Who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of HIS glory.” Ephesians 1:11-14

Grey or blond?

The joy of age is finally just being who you are. Personal style isn’t just about clothes—it’s about being content with who God says you are in Him. Mature life makes us rethink everything. Tis the perfect time to embrace our authentic self. Ditching trends that no longer flatter, great joy is found in playing with comfort.

Softly aging

I am fully aware of my mortality, and at 73 years old, I still wake up every morning with the desire to make a difference.  Age is not a barrier when our passion to use our gift wakes us up.  Keep curiosity alive, continue to learn, and do not fear.  God is closer than near. The Holy Spirit abides in every stride.  Enjoy each day as if it were your last. Squeal with joy knowing your eternal destination. Be unstoppable regardless of age.  Be who He created in a style that isn’t about perfection—it’s about comfort, and a little fun along the way.

Go ahead, rock the bold red lipstick, and a pair of jeans that accentuate curves politely. Your spirit will ooze confidence no matter the dressing. Feel good in your skin—that you share with He who lives within. What’s the one thing that makes you feel the most gratitude? For me, I am grateful to God for the life He extends and who He brings into my life. So many great mentors, awesome teachers, and friends – with fresh revelations daily!

Highlights blend with my grey and natural brown undertones. Grey tshirts with jeans, small black dress with pearls, soft blues and less brights. Maturing into age 75 with a new style. It has all been fun, and amazing to rock each decade with pizzazzz! Play with hair color and use spray to lift up my thinning tresses. I thank God for every season. This season has me with a thin crown, and proud laugh lines.

Genesis 15:15 You will go to your ancestors in peace and be buried at a good old age.” Change is exciting!

El pelo fino no se peina. Se queda plano en la cabeza. Thin hair does not style well. It sits flat on my head.

As we get older, we tend to shy away from short hairstyles, but short hair has lots of options.  Play with products, clips, and fingers. Have fun!
