Jason Cory Newell

Born October 12, 1971

My son was a gift from God and I did my best. This written testimony is to honor a dream that woke me up on May 16, 2026. It has been teen years since my son’s death. My comfort is knowing that Jason is now with Jesus. 1 Samuel 1:27-28 “I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give my child to the Lord.” All our days were written down even before we are born. The temptor is ever among us. Be alert, sober minded as the enemy of the soul of mankind seeks to kill and destroy. But God, John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

God gave the world His only Son, and Jason was my only child. James 5:16 “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” May 16, 2016 God woke me up with a dream of great value to all parents. Our children are being taken and sold into slavery. The slave trader is cunning. He entices the innocent with whispers, “Join the in crowd, be liked, be loved, be popular.” The battle of substance abuse (sugar, pizza and beer, marijuana, alcohol, cocaine, hoarding, new toys, entertainment, sex) any addiction destroys God’s intended peace in a family. Our heavenly Father watches and His Spirit is a Guide, a Counselor, and our reliable source of wisdom. A mother’s prayer of trust in God is powerfully effective.

Teach your children to honor God’s Word.

Hebrews 11:6 “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” The generational curse of alcohol had wreaked havoc on both sides of our family. Jason’s grand parents on both sides died in their addictions.  The Spirit of God led me to enroll my son into “Teen Challenge” a one year camp of recovery. In recovery all the youth had daily prayer and duties.  Clean and sober, Jason returned to the same circle of dark influencers. His enlarged heart was permanently damaged. Paul wrote, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:3 All humanity lives and walks in the flesh and then dies. We eat, exercise, breathe, sleep, and we think in the flesh. As believers, we cling to truth knowing that our corrupted  bodies will someday be gloriously transformed into a new spiritual body. With my son laboring to breathe in ICU, I knew to seek God’s supernatural assistance.  By His grace Jason’s life was extended three times. Every city in every nation is now a citadel of sensuality and demonic activity. As a front-line soldier of the Lord, we know that our emotions will lead us to doubt God. We must pray BELIEVING that our eternal victory is in Gods mighty hands. Regardless of how impressive our knowledge of God might be, no matter how loud we roar, by ourselves, without God, we will be defeated by Satan’s evil schemes. We must have FAITH, and rely on the living and active Word of God.

High School, age 17

Jason was an athlete in his youth. He was the star on his Quail Lakes swim team at the age of 10. His name was on the Spirts page of the Stockton Record during his high school years at Saint Mary’s and at Lincoln High. His circle of innocents were all led astray with parties after football games. The gift of life is not a game, but a treasure. 1 Peter 5:8 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” My son’s heart took a beating and he ended up in ICU on three separate occasions. The doctors had little hope, but momma was at his bedside praying. God heard and Jason survived, but he was sent home with many pills to keep his body working.

My son’s life impacted me, and many others. Jason was torn between the pleasures of the flesh and submitting to the Way of God. In the end, he fully surrendered and was baptized.

Proverbs 31:25-28 “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”
