You might ask…how can not having as many gifts or cards help you get through Mother’s Day? Wouldn’t it be the hardest day of the year for you? All those memories and emotions. And seeing all the families at the restaurants with multiple generations of mothers with balloons and gifts, love and laughter. Yes…yes it […]
Emily L Pittsford wrote about losing her child. In her post I was reminded of a time I said to my son: “After all I’ve done for you”….that statement reeks of entitlement. After all the Lord has done for me….He would never expect me to repay Him for His love, mercy or grace. Forgive me Father, for my pride and selfish ways and demands for repayment for my freely given considerations. I am reminded that my heavenly Father does not feel entitled to my love and devotion. Forgive my expectations that my child, my spouse or any friend repay any kindness given. Do I store up or treasure what others think of me above God? It is my Father’s desire that I store up heavenly treasures, not earthly ones. What are heavenly treasures? “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19 – Vermin will destroy stored food and thieves will steal gold and silver. Store up the promises in the Word of God in your heart, where no person or thing can take your treasures. I too am a mother who has lost her child, and I am reminded of the sacrifice of Jesus, the Son of God. My son RIP April 20, 2016 he is now with Jesus.
