Careful Speech

Make God first daily. Psalm 5:3

“Lord, You hear my voice. In the morning, I lay my requests before You and wait expectantly.” Our  priority is established by agreeing with God’s Word first thing in the morning. Our alignment with His plan does not begin with our activity or hurried urgency. It begins with our focused attention. Before the noise of the day grows loud, before responsibilities compete for our focus, like David we place God first. We do not wait to think of God  when the day becomes difficult, or after our decisions are made.  The first word we speak are His. We lift our voice and direct the mind of our heart to God. God is not our backup plan or our emergency contact. He is the first one we connect with. He is the first One we greet to speak to, the first One we seek, the authority we acknowledge. How we begin the day will determine what we expect to experience. We place God first, and peace and clarity follows. We do not rush into our day and then try to squeeze God into the margins. We bring our Father our first thoughts before taking a single step. Our humble posture says, “God, lead me and I will gladly follow.” The order we set makes a huge difference. We wait expectantly. This is not inactivity, and it is not hesitation. We honor God with our attentiveness. We move through the day with Him walking with us, not in front of Him.  We trust Him to lead us in the direction He has planned for us. We are sensitive to Holy Spirit nudges, and confident that He is ever with us. Our expectant waiting means we believe God guides us from glory to glory. Our morning prayer is not just about speaking, it is about positioning ourselves as His servant. We align our heart to hear, our spirit to discern, and our steps to follow. We surrender our plans to gain divine direction.  We declare Psalm 5:3 with calm confidence and faith. “Lord, You hear me. I bring my plans, my concerns, and my decisions to You. I trust You to guide me today.

Matthew 7:21 deep dive

To say “I knew the Lord” is to take action within a relationship.  In Matthew 7:21, the word “knew” in the original Greek text is derived from the verb γινώσκω (ginōskō). This ACTION term means to personally seek to experience God. To actually recognize our personal, desperate need…is when we encounter the transforming power of God. Our action is admission and submission which requires a relationship. Only when we surrender our plans, our schedules, our own intellectual understanding, then is when we crumble before God in the sacred place of knowing Who Jesus is. He is the King, the Healer, our Lord, our Master, who we are privileged to seek, for healing, comfort, and guidance. Only with a personal encounter do we experience a level of intimacy. He imparts wisdom, and knowledge that can only come from a one one one relationship through the indwelt, ever present, and patient Holy Spirit. When Jesus says, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the WILL of MY Father who is in heaven.”   Knowing that the Holy Spirit was imparted is intellectual. Submitting to the Holy Spirit is experiential. We can say verbally that Jesus is Lord. But is He all sufficient, or do you live self-sufficient, without need of His counsel? It’s about having a GENUINE relationship with Jesus and living out HIS teachings. Not just knowing the story of Jesus. Our OBEDIENCE is a result of a God given desire to honor His word while remaining in Him, the true Vine. The use of ginōskō aligns with other biblical text where the knowledge of God comes with our COVENANT, consecrated relationship. We live out our faith in alignment with His will, not ours. AMEN SO BE IT.

Obediently declare God’s Word.  Greeting the day with expectation, we align with God’s purpose. We agree with our Father and choose to declare good over our family, world, and our life.  Our words shape our mindset and our mind of Christ shapes our actions. Our ears get tuned into His holy presence, and He leads our actions in the direction of God’s will. Our Father’s highest pleasure is to be in fellowship with His beloved. Scripture places a great weight on what we speak, especially in the morning.
Psalm 19: 14 “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord.” Before the news speaks, before fear speaks, before pressure speaks, God’s word speaks first to our hearts. Five Psalms to declare before our feet hit the ground.  Not as routine, not as superstition, but as spiritual alignment. As God’s word is spoken first, peace follows, clarity comes, and faith rises. First Psalm 118:24. “This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Yes Lord! Before we respond to what we see, before we react to what we feel, before all responsibilities, the news, or any memory tries to define our mood, God has called our attention back to truth. Today is not random, it is intentional. This day was not rushed into existence, nor was it overlooked by heaven. It was allowed, designed, and sustained by God Himself.

Even when we wake up tired, uncertain, or overwhelmed, good things are happening behind the visible! We got the victory as the spiritual battle is fought daily! Our day is full of divine purpose because God is present in it. We never know everything that will happen today, but we know who allowed this day to come. Our sovereign Lord’s plans are in force. Accepting truth changes how we stand, how we speak, and how we move. God’s Word reminds us that we never face what comes alone.  We do not walk into chaos without His covering. Rejoicing in the morning is not denying any struggle, it is aligning with truth. We DECIDE to EXPECT and SEE the day through God’s authority rather than through fear, pressure, or past disappointments. Rejoicing is NOT about emotions, it is about our wisest decision. To foster rejoicing is an act of faith before any evidence appears.  Our posture of gratitude gets our feet and faith moving before results are visible. We choose to trust God before any hard evidence. To believe before fully understanding is to trust the Lord. “This day belongs to the Lord!” We refuse to complain, or submit to any fear mongering!  We choose to agree with Jesus and the joy of the Lord wells up. We trust Holy Spirit to guide us with great expectancy today.

Psalm 143:8 for direction you can trust

Good morning Lord! My trust in You stems from our relational foundation based on Your faithfulness. “Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go.” In our love relationship with God, we trust His good direction without anxiety. Our calm clarity does not require us to move faster, thinking harder, or try to control outcomes. Our listening heart asks for a path to take, we ask for a word, a gentle nudge, a validation in our spirit, “This os the way, walk in it.” We ask for loving guidance.
The morning matters as we sit still and greet His presence. This eliminates confusion and fear. We ask to hear from God at the start of our day, before decisions are made and before voices compete for attention. We take a posture of obedience, as we are  willing to be led rather than driven. We first ask for a reminder of God’s trustworthy love before we expect open doors, victory, or acceleration. We invite wisdom to speak to us and our soul gets grounded by His faithfulness. He steadies our emotions with His peace and we are less likely to make impulsive choices. We stop chasing direction just to feel secure as He anchors us in Him. We discern aptly from choosing what looks good but leads us away from God. Security in His love protects us from shortcuts. “Show me the way I should go.” Ask and receive good direction into the day God planned. This is the morning prayer that agrees to  surrender control. We know that there are ways that seem right to us, but we ask to be led in the way that aligns with God’s heart. “I put my trust in God” Our trust is not something we plan to develop later. It is something we declare now. We place our confidence in God before He reveals our daily direction. Authentic trust in God is knowing that He guides those who submit. God’s guidance is relational, not mechanical. God does not simply point and send us off. He leads as we walk in faith, not by sight. He speaks as we listen. He corrects, confirms, and redirects us along the way. Our Father’s direction is not a single instruction. It is an ongoing conversation. Abraham left everything behind, not knowing all the details. We do not rush God for clarity. We wait for the way to be shown, not forced. We remain in Him, alert and attentive. We walk with a listening heart, ready to adjust when God speaks. We move forward, but not independently. We plan, but not without prayer. We choose, but not without surrender. Each step becomes an opportunity to trust God’s voice more than our own understanding.

We live in a broken world but never alone. Psalm 46:1
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” The anchor of our soul is present before trouble arrives. We all experience moments when the ground seems to shake beneath our feet. Before fear takes over, before anxiety whispers lies, God assures us of His presence.
As our 24/7 refuge, God is not a temporary escape, He is not a fragile shelter, but a stronghold for our soul. We rest in Him and stand firm with Him as circumstances scream otherwise. Problems do not mean God is absent. Challenges do not mean He has turned His face away. Storms will interrupt our life, yet this verse reminds us that God’s presence is constant. Trouble may surround us, but it cannot separate us from God. Our Father is available day and night.  He is actively involved, ready to defend, sustain, and guide. God is the refuge we run to when danger arises. We do not hesitate or argue of His arms are sufficient comfort. We enter, rest, and let the safety of His presence cover our fear. Our souls need shelter before we even know what the storm will bring. God is also our reliable strength. There are days when our arms feel weak, and our minds grow weary. On those days, God does not demand that you carry the weight alone. He is here to carry us. He lifts what we cannot, He sustains what our endurance cannot, and He empowers what our ability cannot achieve. We depend on His strength as a daily provision. He is our deliberate ever-present help always. Our Father is not seasonal, delayed, or distracted by the chaos. He is not our backup plan or our last resort. He knew we needed Him, before the trouble arrived. This living word teaches us that our stability does not come from the absence of trials. The pressures of this world do not dictate our peace because His peace is never dependent on the situation.
God’s presence is our stability, His strength is our shield, therefore, we anchor our soul to He who never departs from us. We commit
our spirit to rest in His presence.  No matter what unfolds, we are protected, sustained, and enabled to endure. God does not promise a path without difficulties. He promises something greater, the Holy Spirit makes difficulty manageable. The storms will rage, but He is unshaken. The waves will roar, but He remains steady. Aa our refuge, His unmatched strength carries us through what seems impossible. God’s power dwells within us, His love guard us, His spirit strengthens us. We are not defined by what threatens us, but by the one who called us by name. We declare in faith, and in mighty authority, with great expectancy. “God is my refuge. I will not be shaken or intimidated. His strength carries me through.”

Good Things are happening!

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, WHO IS IN YOU, whom you have received from God? You are NOT your own; you were BOUGHT at a price. Therefore, HONOR God with your bodies.” Likewise, we honor or dishonor God with every word we speak.  A believers’ body is the sacred dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. God tells us “IF you remain in Me, you will bear much fruit.” Begin each day in submission and great expectation. “This is the day the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it.” I thrive because He lives in me. In the OT and NT the Holy Spirit remains working through the pen and mouths of the prophets. “My Spirit remains among you. Do not fear. In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord Almighty.” Haggai 2:5 Holy Spirit help us control our speech so we honor God.

It is a trial to control our tongue. To be silent when our flesh wants to hurl insults is the fruit of the Spirit at work. Whenever we face such a trial, we know that the testing of our faith produces perseverance in our submission to He who dwells within. He will finish His work so that we will be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If we lack wisdom, we ask God, and the Holy Spirit delivers it generously to all who ask. When we ask God for anything, we BELIEVE and do NOT doubt that He answers in His perfect way and timing.  Believers WHO DOUBT are like waves crashing in a sea of worldy voices. They are blown and tossed about in the lies that scream in the wind. That doubting soul should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Many are double-minded and unstable in all they do. Wisely we test all the voices, and remain humble while taking pride in our high position. Blessed are we who PERSEVERE under TRIAL because, having STOOD the TEST, we will RECEIVE the CROWN of LIFE that the Lord has promised to those who love HIM. James one  read and applied.

We speak truth and act humbly as those who are going to be judged by God’s perfect law. Our Father’s final judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful to others. We issue lavish mercy instead of judging others. We have been forgiven. much, so we are quick to forgive. Our faith is accompanied by the good deed of being kind and merciful.  The word of God in us is alive and active, not dead. We believe that there is one God just like the demons believe—and they shudder. Our fear of God absolutely compels us to obey Him like Abraham. His faith and his actions worked together, and Abe’s faith was made complete by how he obeyed even when not fully understanding. The scripture says of God’s friend, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” As God’s chosen, we are considered righteous by what we do and not by our faith alone. A body without the Holy Spirit spirit is dead, so our faith without deeds is dead. Read James 2 and gladly apply.

Not many followers of Jesus should become teachers, because many know that teachers will be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is NEVER at FAULT in what they SPEAK is perfect, and yet only Jesus walked without sin. We’re wise to put bits into our own mouth. A bit may feel uncomfortable, but our awareness of the Holy Spirit in us, keeps us in right submission so that we obey His gentle tug. As God’s vessels, we are at war in a raging sea of voices. Holy Spirit steers by His small whisper, He is our constant pilot.  Our tongue is a small part of our body, but it makes great boasts. A great forest fire gets set ablaze with a tiny spark. Our tongue acts as a fire in this evil and broken world. If we speak in anger, the devil smiles in victory. Without our Pilot’s redirection, our whole soul gets corrupted as we justify our voices compromises to God’s way. The whole course of our life in Christ sets itself on fire by hell itself. All kinds of animals have been tamed by mankind, but without remaining submitted to the Holy Spirit, no human being can tame the tongue. Our tongue is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our Lord Jesus and Father God, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. This should not be. Speak from the deep well of living, fresh water within. Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. Strive to not harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition. Determine not to boast about your plans or deny the truth of selfish ambitions.  Our own wise plans do not come down from heaven but they are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. Where there is envy and selfish ambition, disorder and every evil practice is found. The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. As our Father’s peacemakers, we sow in peace to reap a harvest that pleases Him. Read James 3 and determine to pause before speaking.

Thank You Jesus!
