Sanctified by Fire

“Do NOT quench the Spirit. Do NOT treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil. May God Himself, the God of peace, SANCTIFY you through and through. May your WHOLE spirit, soul and body be kept BLAMELESS at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:19-23

The process of refining and  sanctification causes spiritual growth, transformation, and the deepening of our trust.

● Testing and Trials: Just as gold is refined through heat to remove impurities, individuals often undergo trials and hardships that test their character and faith. These experiences can lead to greater strength and resilience.

● Spiritual Growth: The process of purification is often associated with becoming closer to living like Jesus, holy and sanctified.

● Value and Worth: Gold is precious and valuable, symbolizing that a person’s faith and character, once refined through challenges, becomes more valuable and profound. It emphasizes the potential for growth and transformation in the face of adversity.

● Divine Presence: Being purified refers to a deeper understanding and connection with God. The process of purification brings us into alignment with God’s will and His living Word.

● Hope and Restoration: The gold suggests that, despite difficulties, there is HOPE for RESTORATION and a return to a state of PURITY and strength. Thank God for His refining fire. Discern Truth

Sanctification Definition: The term comes from the Latin word sanctus, meaning “holy.” We are in the process of being made holy, consecrated to God.

Periods of Sanctification. A) Positional Sanctification: This refers to the believer’s standing before God as holy through faith in Jesus Christ. When a person accepts Christ, they are “positionally” sanctified—declared holy and accepted by God. Hebrews 10:10. B) Progressive Sanctification: This is the ongoing process of growing in holiness and becoming more like Christ throughout a person’s life. It involves moral and spiritual transformation, aided by the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18.

● John 17:17  Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.” The role of God’s Word in the sanctification process.
● 1 Thessalonians 4:3: “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified.” It is God’s Way of making us ready.
● Romans 6:19 We are His Ambassadors and we present oureself as instruments of His righteousness.

● The role of the Holy Spirit is to convict, teach, guide, and empower believers to live in accordance with God’s will and help them grow in their faith and holiness. Galatians 5:22-23.

● Final Sanctification is at the Rapture of the church and at the second coming of Christ when all of Israel will be fully conformed to His image and freed from sin. 1 John 3:2

● Purpose of sanctification is to glorify God and to prepare believers to serve Him and others effectively, reflecting His character in their lives.

When God speaks WOE, we are warned to pay attention. The Sea of Galilee turned blood red on Feb 8, 2026. The Olympics celebrated Satan with his symbol. Time for a heart check. Have I been leaning on people, politics, or pleasures to make me feel good about myself? Is the throne of my heart reserved for Jesus with a genuine attitude of gratitude for all He has done and is now doing? To blaspheme the Holy Spirit is the unforgiveable sin. Our Father tells us to let the evildoers continue, as we keep our eyes on what He is doing and praise Him. Do not grumble or complain! Rev 22:11-14.  History repeats itself until Jesus returns. Isaiah 1:2 “Hear Me, you heavens! Listen, earth! For the Lord has spoken: “I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against Me.”

The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” Daniel 7:14 “He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
