Many people have prayed for a healing, but alas, not all people recover from chronic pain, emotional distress, cancer or the inexplicable sense of overwhelming anxiety. We have had others pray for our healing, but for whatever reason we are stuck with a pain, a diagnosis, or a physical or emotional limitation that seems to remain as the way life just is for us. Our thoughts may continue to circle back to the time a doctor told us we were permanently damaged, or that horrific accident, the surgery, the threatening incident, that embarrassing moment when we were laughed at, or when we embraced a devastating rejection, the isolation of neglect, the time we suffered abuse, physically or emotionally.
EFT is a form of psychology that combines the mind, the body, and meridian points to release memories associated with emotional and physical limitations or pain. The Veterans Administration approves EFT to treat veterans with PTSD. Over 40 years of research demonstrates that Tapping calms the Amygdala in the brain, while regulating the nervous system to reduce stress, pain and anxiety. The amygdala part of the brain was given to us by God for our protection. It is where the fight, flight or freeze signal comes from. The moment when the amygdala urges us to run for safety, some people get stuck in that moment for 40 years without knowing why they fear water, heights, being alone or why they reject intimacy. A study published in 2012 in the prestigious Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease, found that EFT tapping lowered the stress hormone cortisol by 43% which is significantly better than traditional talk therapy.
Cortisol is a hormone that affects almost every organ and tissue in your body. It plays an important role in helping you to:
- Respond to stress (accident, hospitalization, rape, war, trauma)
- Fight infection (UTI urinary tract infections)
- Regulate blood sugar (fight insulin resistance and prevent Diabetes)
- Maintain blood pressure (prevent heart attacks and anxiety)
- Regulate metabolism, the process of how your body uses food and energy (lose weight)
Cortisol is made by your adrenal glands, two small glands located above the kidneys. A cortisol test measures the level of cortisol in your blood, urine, or saliva. Blood tests are the most common way of measuring cortisol. If your cortisol levels are too high or too low, it may mean your adrenal glands are malfunctioning.
Why test for cortisol? To avoid Cushings or Addisons, or Diabetes
Symptoms of Cushing’s syndrome include:
- Belly Fat to the point that a person cannot see their feet.
- High Blood pressure ( 140/90 prehypertension )
- High blood sugar (when too high, coma, seizures, lose limbs, go blind)
- Skin that bruises easily, muscle weakness
Symptoms of Addison disease include:
- Weight loss, Zero energy, Fatigue, excessive napping
- Muscle weakness, Stomach pain, Dark patches of skin
- Low blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of body hair

HOW EFT WORKS
EFT effectively treats those who self sabotage themselves from enjoying their relationships, losing the weight, taking that risk, or experiencing the genuine joy and peace of God. The extreme anxiety of PTSD for instance keeps veterans paralyzed because of recurring dreams or visions of the horrible experiences of war. Depression and addictions often result in the untreated symptoms of such trauma. Tapping is also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) which requires the person seeking relief to focus on a negative experience, the trauma that may have caused the ongoing fear or anxiety. When working with a therapist on any unresolved issue, the EFT technician asks “how did you feel after the accident, the incident, the trauma, the surgery?” The person is asked to rate their pain, fear, worry, or bad memory with a score from 1-10. Positive people tend to strongly avoid going back in time and stirring up issues that they believe they have already worked through. So when a tapping session begins it will focus on a specific incident and inquire about the emotions surrounding it. Did you feel wound up? Angry? Insecure, afraid, anxious, hurt? EFT requires admitting a struggle, not dismissing it. We are asked to identify, not deny any emotion that erupts. Fear, anxiety, pain, depression, anger, sadness — then rate that emotion from 1-10. We tap to acknowledge the emotion, then tap to release it. After tapping, the clinician asks the patient to once again rate the emotion so we can be aware or notice if it has diminished? In therapy videos, on various issues, the Psychologist uses talk therapy along with tapping to dive deep into the root issue of why 40 years later, after the incident, people feel frozen or stuck, unable to live and be who they strongly desire to be. Tapping rewires the brain by interrupting its pattern of circling back to the fight, flight or freeze incident. The cause of the disrupting emotion is identified, validated, then dismissed in order that the patient feels the peace of SAFETY, regardless of what the doctor may have endorsed as a permanent disorder. Tapping resets the amalygra of the brain to keep us from running from a past event. The fear, anxiety or pain is released with a message of “You are safe now” “You are smart enough” “You are not to old to be useful” “You can do all things through “Christ is me”. Tapping is done with two fingertips to tap 5-7 times on 9 specific meridian points of the body while saying out loud or to yourself. It is important to identify, validate, then release. Nick Ortner and his sister are the voices behind the tapping sessions I have benefited from. Many Christians may object and say “Sorry, I’m just not into meditation…” We are called to meditate on God’s word, so when I listen to their voices, I often edit the positive message suggested with “the Holy Spirit is rewiring my brain and healing my heart, lungs and I am at peace”. The app is not about meditation, it is about tapping — and as a person taps, it produces a shift. Tap into the great Physician for His peace, for His healing, for His way is not for us to be in a state of fear or anxiety…but as the app suggests “I don’t have to fix anything, I feel at peace, I feel calm, I feel relaxed” The Tapping differentiates this app and gets thousands of people amazing results. This app can get you immediate results when you’re struggling with stress, anxiety, overwhelm, anger, frustration, disappointment, hurt or any of the other myriad of negative emotions we can experience. Tapping through worry and into optimism about the moment, the NOW, reduces my blood pressure, relieves anxiety and fear. Tap into God and deep into those buried emotions that may prevent us from trusting Jesus for our complete healing. His desire is to heal everyone for His glory. As a believer in the power of Jesus Christ to heal, tapping worked in a powerful way. I tapped through a few issues while trusting God at a deeper level. The process of resetting the Amygdala which God gave all of us, worked in me on various levels of insecurity. As a result of a trauma in my youth, I unconsciously gained weight to not be a target of unwanted attention. Diet or exercise did not work because I would self-sabotage to remain safe. As a positive thinker I convinced myself that I had released the drama of various rejections, abuses and hospitalizations that were really scary. Anxiety, the fear of dying or depression can be greatly minimized or eliminated by tapping. A) First tap tap tap and acknowledge the incident that caused discomfort, any feeling of insecurity, vulnerability, fear. B) Second tap tap tap hand, eyebrow, eye areas, collarbone, heart, armpit, top of head – Say “I let go of, I release the…I am safe now, I accept my healing, I thank God for assisting me in letting go of all things that do not serve Him or His highest purpose for me. God’s divine power has already equipped us fully. We must claim all He gave us and walk courageously in it. We use the full armor of God to slay the giants, to crush evil, to destroy negative programming when we trust the authority of God and His living and active Word. “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.” 2 Peter 1:3-4 (SEE YouTube of veterans below)

4) Tap next to eye “His Presence fills me with peace, hope, and confidence.
6) Tap under eye “The Holy Spirit reminds me of scripture and words to think and speak”
7) Tap collarbone “Jesus gives me strength as He protects me”
8) Tap heart “I am His beloved and Jesus regulates my heart.”

10) Tap the top of your head and proclaim “I have the mind of Christ.
Gently tapping while breathing, relieves anxiety, it rewires our brain, lowers blood pressure, relieves pain. This is a Christian affirmation version for healing anxiety. The truth about me is that I am a child of God Almighty. Through Christ in me I can do all things that He has planned for me to do. The truth about me is that I was legally adopted into the family of God. I am sealed by the Holy Spirit and He gives me wisdom, strength and confidence to to that which He directs me to do. I am totally surrendered to the Holy Presence of God in me. I am good enough just as I am. I am worthy as a chosen vessel of His glorious light. I am healed, purified and loved by the Holy Spirit. I am more than a conqueror, I am His, and He is mine. AMEN
Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. Stress is your body’s reaction to a challenge or demand. In short bursts, stress can be positive, such as when it helps you avoid danger or meet a deadline.
Stress is a natural feeling of not being able to cope with specific demands and events. However, stress can become a chronic condition. Stress can suppress your immune system, upset your digestive and reproductive systems, increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, and speed up the aging process. It can even rewire the brain, leaving you more vulnerable to anxiety, depression, and other mental health problems.
Anxiety is a feeling of fear, dread, and uneasiness. It might cause you to sweat, feel restless and tense, and have a rapid heartbeat. It can be a normal reaction to stress. For example, you might feel anxious when faced with a difficult problem at work, before taking a test, or before making an important decision.
Long-term anxiety and panic attacks can cause your brain to release stress hormones on a regular basis. This can increase the frequency of symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and depression. Anxiety is not curable, but there are ways to keep it from being a big problem. Getting the right treatment for your anxiety will help you dial back your out-of-control worries so that you can get on with life. There are many ways to do this.
Central nervous and endocrine systems
Your central nervous system (CNS) is in charge of your “fight or flight” response. In your brain, the hypothalamus gets the ball rolling, telling your adrenal glands to release the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones rev up your heartbeat and send blood rushing to the areas that need it most in an emergency, such as your muscles, heart, and other important organs.
When the perceived fear is gone, the hypothalamus should tell all systems to go back to normal. If the CNS fails to return to normal, or if the stressor doesn’t go away, the response will continue.
Under stress, your liver produces extra blood sugar (glucose) to give you a boost of energy. If you’re under chronic stress, your body may not be able to keep up with this extra glucose surge. Chronic stress may increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
The rush of hormones, rapid breathing, and increased heart rate can also upset your digestive system. You’re more likely to have heartburn or acid reflux thanks to an increase in stomach acid. Stress doesn’t cause ulcers (a bacterium called H. pylori often does), but it can increase your risk for them and cause existing ulcers to act up.
Stress can also affect the way food moves through your body, leading to diarrhea or constipation. You might also experience nausea, vomiting, or a stomachache.
Chronic stress is also a factor in behaviors such as overeating or not eating enough, alcohol or drug abuse, and social withdrawal.
Your muscles tense up to protect themselves from injury when you’re stressed. They tend to release again once you relax, but if you’re constantly under stress, your muscles may not get the chance to relax. Tight muscles cause headaches, back and shoulder pain, and body aches. Over time, this can set off an unhealthy cycle as you stop exercising and turn to pain medication for relief.
